Mau & Omicron

A being from outer space, part of a race called Star Souls. Star Souls can be any species, and are defined as part of the race by their selection by the Collective. The Collective is a semi-omniscient collection of consciousnesses that has existed since the dawn of time. The Collective chooses a soul before birth to be a Star Soul, and then raises that soul to believe in the principles of curiosity, perseverance, and truth. A Star Soul is given a companion in some form (for Mau, it is her tailmouth) to accompany them on whatever world they choose to live on once they're of age. Star Souls then live out their days on the planets/places of their choice, and when they pass, their soul joins the Collective. Star Souls with training can meditate to access knowledge and memories of the Collective while they live in their chosen worlds, meaning that greatly matured Star Souls have access to near-infinite knowledge of the universe.

Mau is very young, only recently having arrived on Earth to spend her days learning and growing. She has knowledge of how to meditate and access the Collective's memories, but is not practiced at it yet. Her companion tailmouth is called Omicron (Omi for short) and is significantly more reserved and cautious than Mau is. The Collective usually pairs a Star Soul with a companion who can balance them out. Mau herself is adventurous and naïve, and is excited to experience everything life has to offer. Omi just hopes they live long enough to see it all.
