A fanplanet/fanspecies for the Pikmin universe. Feel free to use for anything as long as you give credit and don't monetize it! Feel free to make up new lore, too. (But I wanna see if you do!!)

Voyapino is a small (compared to Earth) planet located somewhere in the Local Group. It has one moon, and the remains of another moon orbit the planet as rings. The existing moon is named Ainpa, while the former moon was called Twempa prior to its destruction.

The dominant species on Voyapino, the Voyapi, are an endangered species on their last legs. There are little-to-no resources left on the planet, as the Voyapi got a little too ambitious; a history of failed attempts to make intergalactic history and refusing help from other worlds has led to only a couple million Voyapi living as of the present day.

With no other options, a thousand Voyapi were sent out into space to find uninhabited worlds that have resources. One rocket ship found itself crashing upon a distant planet, and...

Voyapi

Characteristics

Voyapi are a humanoid species that are about the same size as Hocotatians and Koppaites.

Like many species, they require oxygen to breathe; the air on PNF-404 contains too much oxygen for a Voyapi to safely breathe, though, so spacesuits must be used there. Voyapi are omnivorous, but tend to prefer meat when it's available.

Biology-wise, Voyapi are very similar to humans for the most part, though they do have antennae that stick out of their head. These antennae glow in the dark and are controllable, and presumably evolved to help the Voyapi see; by default, they have terrible night vision, and being able to see in the dark on the level of a human is considered abnormal. Their eyes also glow in the dark, though not nearly as bright. Vision and light aside, the Voyapi are your standard humanlikes.

Voyapino

Geography

Voyapino, though warm enough to support life, is slightly colder than one would expect from an Earth-like planet. The hottest recorded temperature is only around 95 degrees Fahrenheit (or 35 Celsius).

There is only one continent on Voyapino, which shares its name with the planet. It resembles the hypothesised supercontinent Aurica. Past the shores, the majority of the land is either barren or home to cities; there are few forests, and though plenty of other types of plants survive in the cities, wandering into uninhabited territory will greet one with what feels like an endless plain where nothing lives except the very hardiest of plants and animals.

Culture

Light, as a concept and the absence of darkness, is very important to Voyapi. As they are bioluminescent and cannot see in the dark, they learned to create artificial light and illuminate the planet; as of the present day, darkness is seen as an invention and not as something natural. It's common for Voyapi to 'color' the lights they make with either contact lenses or antenna covers, and those who prefer the darkness are seen as quirky.

Inventions and innovation are also something important to the species - even to the point where Voyapi tend to prefer trying to solve their own problems and only ask for help when it's clear that trying to work on the issue alone will only make it worse. They're... well, considering the fact they're currently dying out because they won't accept help from other civilizations...

The fact that the Voyapi are slowly dying out due to their own hubris is not a secret, but the species still has hope.
