About

Mael is the son of Kranos the Werebeast and Minerva the Grand Sorceress. He has a twin sister Nightshade, and is often polite and calm, untill he's alone at least. Maelstrom is not affected by the hatred of his peers, he just doesn't care.

Short Summary of Childhood

Maelstrom was born and raised in early life in his Mothers two story manor estate. Born with a twin, he always would have a playmate. Though he didn't utilize it much.

Mael spent more time exploring and following the various monsters Minerva had on the property. He was the more unruly of her brood, often having "Wild hair" and a energy reserve of a hyper toddler. Mael was more interested in exploring the basement then his story books, an Irony he'd see later on in life..

Mael was not as gifted in magic as his sister and mother, but he was a formidable werebeast and took more after his father in power level. He had his wand, and attended his lessons but it wasn't his favorite thing. Often times he wished Minerva wasn't around and they could be normal shifters. "Magic was a waste of time"

Mael would get his wish one day, when he was six years old; while he was at school. Returning home to find his little sister covered in blood with Kranos standing over her shouting every name in the book. Mael didn't know how to feel when he had heard Minerva was dead. He felt Guilty that he was happy about it, he'd get to be a REAL werecat and learn from Kranos!

That day Mael tore the ribbon from his neck and threw it into the lake of the Estate. He was Free.

Growing Up

Mael and Night were raised soley by Kronos by that point on, and Mael would slowly realize that losing his mother was a bigger price then he'd imagined. For one, Kranos was cruel, and held no patience. Unlike his mother who had seemed to have endless patience, Often spending hours daily to reteach them posture, manners, and stuff he would think then was utter nonense.He wondered how she managed it. Kranos was not one for bedtime stories or any of that nonsense and most certainly NO MAGIC. He was doing it, he was living as a real "man" and it SUCKED. Going from a comfortable bed in his room down the hall from Night, to the cold damp places Kranos would shove them for the night. Kranos didnt work, and never would, the kids would just have to deal.

Mael found himself missing the sound of the fireplace crackling at night, and the calming security of the Minerva's Manor. But most of all, he missed seeing Nightshade smile, she never did it anymore. He regretted to admit it, but he'd been so consumed by his own excitement; he'd never noticed how she felt.

"You never know what you had, untill its gone."

Mael started to pay attention to Night as she grew further and further into her own sorrow. He would try to be as loving as he could, but it seemed it never worked. Kranos couldn't stop Night and Maelstrom from mandatory magic classes but he did everything he could to discourage it, often punishing Night for studying. When Kranos started being physical to his sister is when Mael grew to hate him as well. Just because she isn't what you want, doesnt mean she deserves that... Mael didn't think it could get worse for his sister. Untill she made an attempt on her life only a year after Minerva's death.

After the attempt, Mael and thier father Kranos; made the decision to wipe Nights mind of all memories of her mother. Kranos had a point after all, it was only hurting Night too much. This is what was best for the little girl. Mael had to agree.. A seven year old shouldn't be trying to die and he really didn't want to lose his sister

Mael told Night that Minerva had died when they were babies, hopefully that would keep her safe. But Maels plan came crashing down in waves when Kranos abandoned them, and then thier mothers family turned them away. Minervas body turned up and of course the Will became a matter. Something Mael wasn't prepared for was what it contained.

Minerva's will had left everything to her Child on one condition. One of them had to become a Grand sorceress like she was. Otherwise the Property was held. Mael was stuck, and the family was furious. They wanted the Estate and to toss the "Monster spawn" out. Mael knew they would never get the estate, Mael wasn't adept in Magic and Nightshade wasn't herself anymore. She had been the one Minerva trained, not him. So the decision, Fight for thier Mother's estate and live with Nights horrible depression. Or keep Night safe, and have nothing. Mael chose the latter. The family took it to court and found a loophole, or well they DEMANDED the loophole. If Mael or Night FAILED the Grand Sorcerer test. The estate went to Minervas Sister and thier cousins. This means Mael and Night only had One chance to get their home. And to the family's fury, both havent taken the test to this day.

Mael later went back to the estate on the day Kranos left them to retrieve his bowtie. It was his way of accepting the other half of him again. He didn't want to be a monster like Kranos.
