Tsubasa has two predominant modes he switches between: Competent Therapist, ready to help his patients with kind words and firm actions whenever they need them, doing everything he can to help them with their problems. And then there's the stressed witch, easily flustered who tends to see himself in a poor, dim light and judge himself harshly, particularly about his errors and shortcomings, while simultaneously telling others to not do that.
Tsubasa will do everything in his power to help and protect those he cares about, especially his little sister of whom he now has custody. Tsubasa not only feels responsible for her, he also wishes to be a good role model, give her the kind of loving and nurturing environment he had growing up that she is now missing being away from their mom, and he fears his limitations could harm her progress, particularly in the magic department where he himself isn’t very skilled. In this trying to do the best for her, he can be a bit overbearing and exhausting, but he is quick to apologise when he realises he has overwhelmed her.
There are quite a few things that can make Tsubasa lose his composure, sometimes with honestly funny results like receiving compliments that aren't about his work. He gets flustered, loses his voice and becomes a shy mess. Trying to flirt with someone he likes? He usually stops and doubts himself, making it quite hard to get into a relationship, as his partner would need to be patient with him so he can be comfortable enough to open up.

Magic
Area of Expertise
As a witch from an old and prestigious family, Tsubasa learned from various mentors basic magical skills, until he found two areas he truly exceeded in more naturally. Transfiguration (the magical art of changing the form of appearance of an object) and Chance magic (art of altering the probabilities of a certain event happenin).
He had a very dedicated training on both arts up until the age of 18 when he fully focused on his university studies, and in the past ten years Tsubasa has only actively practiced and nurtured his trasnfiguration magic, as he found it useful for his work as a Therapist, and has since relegated chance and probability magic as a mere hobby.
Abilities
Trasfiguration: Tsubasa can change the magical appearance, shape and form of an object into something else. He has to enchant each object he transforms individually and cast a spell in order to achieve this. The more similar the transformation is to the original object, the easiest and fastest it is to perform. For example, changing the color of an object without altering its shape is easier than turning a coin into an armchair (basically impossible).
Limitations
Focus: in order to sucessfully perform transfigurations magic Tsubasa needs to give the task all his attention. Losing focus on the task at hand would result in failure, or even a bad outcome.
Limited training: outside of his area of expertise, Tsubasa’s magical training is very limited, he knows the theory but very rarely puts it into practice, and even on the things he knows, he hasn’t had any major improvement in almost ten years, as he stopped focusing on magic to pursue a degree in psychology.
Familiar
Setto: a night ferret Tsubasa summoned on the day of his 13th birthday, in a ritual deeply tied to his family's traditions, where the young witch is granted a companion by the shadows of the world.
Setto is a very curious, mischievous creature who loves attention, praise and shiny things, and is not above stealing and hoarding things. Despite that, he knows when to behave, and helps Tsubasa with his work by working as an emotional support animal during sessions with patients that need him. He has two ways of presenting, as a ferret made of the night, shadows and cosmos that can roam around freely, even through air, and as a regular, white fluffy ferret.

History
Early Life
Tsubasa was born and raised in Kyoto, Japan, as the child of the “lucky one”. His mother was the seventh child of a seventh child, something that put her next in line to be head of the Yami family. Tsubasa knew from a young age that his mother was a powerful witch, but for him, she was simply mom, just like dad was simply dad. People who accepted him for who he was. He grew up surrounded by magic, and by dozens of witches that were part of his family, that would explain the world to him and how to navigate it. At the age of thirteen he performed a centuries-old ritual to summon his familiar, Setto, who has been his companion ever since.
At the age of fifteen, two events occurred that changed his life forever. His little sister Ruriko was born, and his father died from a sudden disease that no one saw coming. This event caused him to become even closer to his mom, as she relied on him for many things during her grief, including helping with little Ruri. Tsubasa realised during this time that he wanted to be someone that could help people in times of need, so he started to look into careers that could help him do that. Two years after this Tsubasa managed to finish human high school early, getting accepted into a university to study psychology and become a therapist.
Tsubasa graduated early from university with honors, and started working right away, first under the supervision of another licensed therapist, then on his own. Time passed and things seemed ok until Tsubasa’s 27 birthday, when his mom had a premonition of something terrible happening in the near future. Their combined efforts could not change the future by itself. The “Lucky one” and her children would die at the hands of a rival witch clan, along with the rest of the Yami family. The only future in which they could avoid the tragedy, was the one where Tsubasa and Ruriko were not anywhere near japan when the battle occurred.
Moving to Walpurgis
Desperate to find a safe place to go, Tsubasa contacted every magic user he knew and trusted, until one mentioned a small magical town, known to be a safe haven for those who inhabit it. Walpurgis. Without wasting time, just two weeks after Tsubasa's birthday him and Ruriko packed their things, said goodbye to their mom and moved all across the world, to a place they may not call home, but one they could call secure.
Surprising both of them, while small, Walpurgis felt a lot like home. The people were welcoming, helpful, ready to assist and make sure they could adapt into living in town. Tsubasa slowly made a name of his own as a good therapist, and at some point, people found out he was a good musician too, roping him into giving classes, something he ended up enjoying a lot.
Present Day
Now, after eight months of being in Walpurgis, Tsubasa spends his days as a mundane witch. He has slowly adapted to the life in town, and while he misses home, he feels very welcomed here
He does his job as a therapist, giving his all to help the people in town that reach out to him for his services. He teaches music once a week to the kids at school, and overall he just worries about his little sister wellbeing.
Race Lore
Witches have existed since humans first got their hands on magic. After centuries of studying and perfecting the manipulation of magic, their abilities have grown more and more potent within their close family groups. Keeping their bloodlines intact and strong is a high priority of most traditional Witching families, and they take great care with who they allow into their line. The head of a family is almost always the oldest female member, as they follow a matriarchal system of power.
While Witches have an innate talent with magic and can perform small amounts without a conduit, they often choose to channel it through an object such as a focus, a wand, a crystal ball, etc., to stabilize the spell and amplify its power. They have the potential to learn most types of magic with enough time, but are usually more adept at the specific branch their family has studied for generations. This has led to several smaller subsets of Witches, such as those at focus on blood magic, divination, enchantment, illusion, shadows, or any other subject.

Tsubasa's 12 years old sister. He is in charge of her education and wellbeing for the time being and takes it very seriously. He also loves her very much and they rely on each other a lot since they only have each othere here.

Items
Earring/magical staff:
An object meant to help him channel his magic, like wands can be for other witches. For big spells that require lots of focus he has to transform the earring into the bigger sized staff.
Instrument chest:
a big wooden chest where Tsubasa stores all his musical instruments. The space on the inside of the chest seems bigger than that of the chest itself, and he has a multitude of things inside it. Still, nothing bigger than the opening of the chest itself can come in or out, so no pulling a grand piano out of it.
