About

Delaney (Laney only to her close friends) is a skilled Dualie main who loves tearing through the ink, whether it's in anarchy or turf wars. Despite her skills, she is exceptionally kind and patient, praising her teammates whether they win or lose. She can be found often in anarchy matches and greatly enjoys taking on Salmon Run shifts -especially when the fancy weapons are busted out. The Grizzco Dualies are practically her dream come true.

She used to have her focus all over until the big moment occurred, most of the new action heading to Splatsville. She decided to stay in her apartment with her partner, Alex, and make the journey daily via train to Splatsville. Honestly, she doesn't mind the commute - especially since Alex is happy in Inkopolis.

Story

Youth

The fight between Agent 3 and DJ Octavio had been terrifying - and then Agent 1 and 2 took over the speakers to DJ Octavio's booth. The Calamari Inkantation blasted across the area and Delaney could feel the music within her. The hum of the Calamari Inkantation flared in her soul, however she hadn't been fast enough to escape her superiors. She tried, she had desperately tried, but found herself at the back of the fleeing group and pinned painfully to the ground, restrained. DJ Octavio had been defeated, the Great Zapfish had been freed from the Octarian army's hold, and Captain Cuttlefish and his agents were gone as quickly as they had arrived. Their goggles were forced back on and Delaney could do nothing but sit and try to ignore the beat pulsing through her being as things were forced back to normal.

Well, as normal as things could be. With their new power source gone, their leader gone, things went grim quickly. Repairs took weeks and recovery took even longer - they had lost so many after the fight. After the battle, she had dreams of the battle, the music of the Squid Sisters a constant background noise, calling her. It didn't take long for their goggles to be updated to glasses - the mind-control was stronger with these, but it didn't remove the hum of the Inkantation from haunting her thoughts.

Delaney became obsessed with learning more about the Squid Sisters, learning more about Inklings - in a way that wasn't drenched in Octarian history lessons. They paid money for books and music from the outside, they went to the shadiest parts of Octo Valley and Octo Canyon to get whatever she could to learn more. She began teaching herself Inkling, trying to understand the words that gave her spirit such fire. The mind-control glasses kept her contained, kept her from leaving, but it didn't stop her from yearning to be free.

It wasn't long before history repeated itself - a new agent, a new robot, a new battle - yet it all ended the same. Agent 4 fought DJ Octavio and Callie, freeing her with Agent 2's help, and the Calamari Inkantation was sang anew. With the energy it provided, Delaney shed her glasses, letting it fill her soul with the motivation she needed. Delaney stayed put long enough to ensure Callie was safely with the other Agents before fleeing and ensuring she wasn't stopped this time around. With her fragmented knowledge of Inkopolis, the world around her was startling, new, and amazing. She became obsessed with the bands in Inkopolis and the fresh culture, immediately joining Salmon Run shifts (weapons supplied meant she didn't have to spend money she didn't have) and working hard to get to a comfortable place.

Inkopolis

Delaney grew to love the bustling city of Inkopolis over time, finding a roommate once she had enough money saved up and from there, things only improved for her. Music, clothes, food, the vibrant energy of the city was more than she could've ever hoped or dreamed for. She worked primarily in ranked matches for money, but would eagerly jump aboard a ship out for Salmon Run shifts as well.

It was during a turf war match to warm-up that she stumbled upon the amusing sight of an aerospray user in full armor, her curiousity pushing her to meet the odd-ball. She wouldn't have guessed that odd-ball would end up her partner or that they'd eventually move in together in Inkopolis.

Current Life

Delaney and Alex had a very long talk about whether to stay in Inkopolis or move to Splatsville when the shift occurred. Alex had just been offered a big job and overall, they decided to stay. Delaney would commute via train to Splatsville for Anarchy and her fill of chaos while Alex held the fort down in Inkopolis. Sometimes she regrets the decision, but overall Delaney is happy to not try and find a place in the crowded, stacked area of Splatsville.
