Lasko is Wilbur's sibling and he helps him and his work every now and then but often finds excuses to bail out of it as they are often too cruel and reckless for his taste.
He's a quite good alchemist, practicing both magical and chemical work. If a deal needs to be made he's the one to go as he is very good at haggling and even at scamming others to his own benefit. Usually his customers never notice when they have been scammed - or they notice far too late. Most slugs and snails are fairly shady and some are better on it than others, he's certainly on the better side there. 

Lasko often wears a Snail's shell to "disguise" himself. Why he does that is not really clear, probably just because it's fun.
