Profile

SPECIES LORE

This little dragon adores shiny things. They can hold their breath underwater for only about 3 minutes, in which they can swim under in search of anything they saw sparkle. Well known for stealing money, when you know these little dragons are around you better keep your coins in pouches.

They don't do well in cold, and are more common the closer to the equator you get. If an area they are in begins to snow or the temperatures drop below 0 Celsius they will attempt to migrate away. They don't spend much, if any, time in oceans though they can sometimes be seeing scavenging for sea glass. They enjoy areas with lots of rivers, as well as tend to settle near civilization. This is because they act very much like pigeons or magpies. If a town has a bell tower they will often be attracted to it and perch on top of the tower to marvel at it. They are enjoy stealing coins and jewelry and the towns folk.

These little dragons are attracted to the sounds of bells, and the clinks of coins. However they are very much turned away from the honking of horns and other sudden, harsh noises. They will often avoid especially urban areas for this reason, though if there is a bell, there will always be some Luhisk's perched up there.

The version of the plural form generally remains Luhisk in the west but in the east is most commonly reffered to as Luhi.

They are omnivores. They have a diet that primarily consists of fish and select vegetation. They are relatively picky when it comes to green's but will eat anything in the water that moves. They don't attack or eat humans, and many of them are conditioned to their presence. A Luhisk attack would be obscure in the same sense a pigeon attack would be. They aren't generally violent creatures, they just want the shiny things.

Their mating rituals essentially consist of just gifting their beloved the most shiny objects (the most as in more than all of the other suitors). The female dragon will choose a mate when she is ready by gifting the male the shiniest, most beautiful object they have received from a different suitor. This symbolizes that she doesn't care for the other male's gifts and only wants those of this male. The chosen male will then go off with the female, taking her to his nest to show her his collection where she will chose a piece of jewelry of his to wear. He will wear the present she had given him as a sign of dominance over the failed males attempts (if this object is not jewelry the dragon finds a way to make it wearable). Some male dragons will choose to hid some of his favorite objects for when the female comes to pick to keep them from being chosen but this is seen as rude, shallow, disrespectful and if the female finds out she may leave the male and possibly even kill him in vengeance. This is the only evidence of violence in their species.

ART NOTES

Can be drawn in small flocks with colour variations. Their necklace can be drawn with varying types and colours of beads, or can not be drawn at all though I would appreciate it if somewhere it were clear that they adore shiny things (a crown, holding a coin, a bracelet, etc). Generally wearing jewelry is a sign of having a mate, but not necessarily so you do you. You can also change their colouring as much as you want (individual dragons will have different markings) as long as you keep the same colour palette.

They would not be seen in or around the Dragon Philosophers mountain home however he would encounter the dragons if he travelled down the mountain to the number of rivers and lakes at the base as well as the relatively nearby village. He does not mind this however due to them being such nuisances, just keep this in mind for context if drawing them together.

You can draw them with any of your characters as well being nuissances
