He was born on the northern edge of Russia in the late 16th century. His village bordered the White Sea, in a community outsiders called “private” but locals understood as a closed, quasi-religious circle. His mother held quiet influence there, and he learned early to survive by keeping his head down. He was a soft-spoken, anxious child who tried to earn affection by obeying without question.
That obedience made him vulnerable. When his mother began testing her own selfmade incantations on him, he accepted them. He wanted her approval too much to refuse.
The experiments intensified. Incantations turned into full ceremonies, and she began inviting other villagers to attend, masking each event behind ordinary pretexts like harvest gatherings or protective rites.
By the time anybody understood what those rituals were doing to him, a festering psychic wound had already been etched deep into his core. as winter came, plagues of illness and sudden death began to haunt the members of the already scant village. His mother began to catch on to what she, ultimately, had caused.
TO BE WRITTEN:
•Mother invited him to ritual under the false pretenses of it being their final one, as he had began to deteriorate rapidly into the months of early spring. Adorned in jewels and a steel crown of amber, he was given a nonlethal concoction of jimsonweed and nightshade under another false pretense of undergoing a spiritual cleansing journey; when he began to peak on the jimsonweed, his mother began an ‘exorcism’ of sorts.
•This failed entirely, only further opening the wound imbued on his soul and causing him to be further spiritually vulnerable
•Last resort: mother stakes enchanted blade into his throat, seemingly putting him out of his misery. They bury him in a sacred site a few kilometers away from town. By the 17th century, the village had been destroyed under Romanov order.
•He, of course, is not fully dead. Only in a state of stasis, seemingly for centuries.
•Arises again sometime in the 2000s, rot and filth overtaking his physical form; despite this, he still looks relatively similar to how he did before his passing, he’s just very much… not his old self. There are glimpses of his past life within his behavior and personality, oftentimes overshadowed by the wicked, vengeance-fueled energy now fully intertwined with his own.
•Noticeable signs of decay begin to emerge more when he’s upset or in an episode; eyes begin to drip decomp fluid + poison mixture, flies buzz overhead more frequently, blade manifests back into his throat + crown onto his head no matter how many times he rips them out/off
