Before the events of Kingdom Hearts

Xenos grew up with two sisters, one older and one younger. After graduating high school, he took one year off to work and earn money before attending college at 19, studying biology. When he was 21, his world was destroyed by Heartless. Within the next few months, Destiny Islands were overrun, too...

As a heartless

When his world was consumed by Heartless, Xenos' heart was taken and he was transformed into a Neoshadow. For the following three years, he wandered through the Dark World, mindlessly walking as to avoid his inner callings. Unlike some Heartless, Xenos still retained consciousness and was more aware of his actions than others. With this scrap of humanity, Xenos stayed in the shadows. When balance was restored, Xenos did not reappear in his world; his Nobody was captive within the Organization's use. He wandered for three or so years, as he did not reform as a human until his Nobody was killed, sometime during the events of Kingdom Hearts II.

After resurrection

When Xenos finally reformed, he was welcomed by his family, which had all been resurrected prior. However, Xenos was very mentally confused and unstable, as he was still sensitive to his years of wandering. He easily felt defeat and hopelessness as he discovered he was presumed dead, and his mind felt as though it had been eaten away during his time alone in the darkness. Unable to stand being with his family for extended periods of time (as they coddled him relentlessly, yet fought with each other), Xenos moved to a small town called Lamplight.

In Lamplight, Xenos earned a job as a cashier at a local grocery chain. The town was close to a river, and had initially grown because of it, but had now significantly diminished in size. He bought a small house at the edge of the woods with his parents' money (as they still felt like they needed to take care of him, and also felt bad for spending his money after he supposedly died).

While he tried to cope with himself, his routine mostly consisted of waking up late, working, and going to bed as early as possible, as he caught up on long overdue sleep. He avoided most everyone and didn't interact with any of his coworkers unless he had to, simply observing and being generally polite. However, he would sometimes lash out or be uncharacteristically grouchy or angry.

During one of these episodes, he left work in a state of fury, and when he got home, he had an emotional breakdown that left his mind in a state of turmoil. He fell asleep only to wake up with stabbing pains, where he then discovered his body had transformed into a terrifying half-Heartless, half-human figure in the night. There was only a few minutes of consciousness before the rest of his actions became blurred and involuntary, and he flew from his window in a vicious rage to completely destroy a few unlucky trees in the nearby woods. In the morning, he awoke in the leaves, reverted back to his human form.

After a couple of these infrequent occurances, Xenos grew highly anxious and paranoid. Although he was struggling, he didn't want anyone to discover his condition. Suffering from a particularly bad day of social anxiety, he launched into a transformation midday, taking out his confusion and mindless emotions on the town and destroying a decrepid building. The town's suspicion of a monster in the woods was then confirmed, and the situation was reported as potentially an attack from Heartless.

The town proceeded to be investigated by officials from a world called Radiant Garden after a few more occurances during the night. The culmination of monetary stress, his fear of being caught, and the pain and mental trauma made the episodes more and more frequent, and his traces more and more obvious. He was terrified of what he could do, and what people might do to him.

Inevitably, though, he is discovered laying in the woods, and is turned in to the officials.
