Gretchen was born an original fairy. Which means she was one of the first people to be created by the Divines at the beginning of time. She was a fairy, which means she’s a forager For food, medicinal herbs, etc. She taught herself what’s poisonous, what’s good for eating for strength, what’s good for medical needs, etc. All because her father was a sickly man and they were poor so they couldn’t come up with much money.
Gretchen took some classes by Aza, the one known as Gluttony in the future, to help her make sure her father gets the help he needs. Aza, who’s her neighbor inside of the ocean she lived by, would come up to land from time to time to come check up on her. She appreciated the help always by him, but would make sure he understood that they were okay.
They live simple lives, just like the rest of them did before Sin appeared. Gretchen was rather happy with her life, but wished her father would only get better.
On that fateful day, early in the evening, Gretchen and Aza were in her small home together trying to figure out what would be for dinner. When suddenly they’d hear screaming and the sound of weapons clashing nearby. Aza would go out to see what was happening, only for Gretchen to hear him shout.
She immediately goes outside to witness him being pierced through the heart by the Gluttony monster. It would also happen to Gretchen, but by the monster of Wrath. The pain was too great for either of them to handle so they would both be unconscious until the next morning when the monsters would be gone.
Gretchen’s father was right beside her hours after bring her and Aza inside. Trying to get her to wake up even if she was groggy and sore from what she endured. He had tended to her wounds, but her father feared for what was to come.
As soon as she and Aza woke, she was confused to how she was still alive after something like that. She basically ignores her own needs so she can take care of her father and Aza at the same time. Which is where she meets Pride days later.
Gretchen wasnt looking so well by first look. So Pride held back his introduction and decided to help her with her needs. Figuring out she had worked herself to exhaustion, wondering how she could even still be standing. After a few days of resting up and getting to know one another, Pride then introduced himself to all three of them.
Aza and Gretchen didn’t want to believe that they were now Sins. They thought it a terrible curse. But her father tried to be comforting towards them. Trying to tell Gretchen that everything will be okay.
And it is for quite a while up until Pride wanting to exact his revenge on the Heavens. She was entirely against the idea because she had a hunch at what the truth was since the beginning of the situation. But Pride was the leader and she didn’t want to seem disobedient.
Towards the fourth installment, she sides with the rebellion along with Pride, Gluttony, and Sloth.
