Profile

Overview

Trans boy who works too hard at his day job as a barista. He plays DnD on the weekends and practices with a dance crew for performances in the evening, except one evening a week when he attends a fencing class.  He's known for being a bit of a workaholic and is always keeping himself busy with one thing or another.

Backstory

Andy was adopted as a baby and taken in by an American family, who raised him as a girl. He had an older sister and a much younger brother. Andy was the only adopted child, but he never felt left out by this fact, as his mother made it clear that she loved him just as much as his siblings.  He wasn't a bad kid, and he spent most of his childhood days quietly.  By his adolescent years though, he was starting to feel out of place in the all-girls school that he attended.  Puberty began, making him feel truly uncomfortable.  He changed a lot over the course of the next few years from a quiet little girl into a rebellious teenager.

By high school, he was considered a true weirdo among his peers.  He hated wearing skirts so much that he started wearing track pants under his uniform. After being picked on for his greasy hair, he shaved it all off and went through most of his high school days bald. He told his parents that he was a lesbian, which they were a bit unsure how to respond to since he had happily dated boys before. Ultimately, they decided they weren't going to tell him how to live and unconditionally accepted him.  This change in Andy's life didn't help his mental state though, and he continued to scowl his way through life. He still found himself liking boys, which didn't match the new 'lesbian' label he was wearing.

It wasn't until the middle of high school that Andy came across a transgender forum and talked to a trans boy for a while that things suddenly clicked. The realization was big for Andy, and he immediately told his then-girlfriend.  He asked her to start using male pronouns for him, and the results were amazing.  It just felt right. Soon after, he got his close friends to start doing the same.  This was the thing, the itching thing that had been bothering him for years.  He came out to his family, and, at first, they weren't sure what to say about it.  His parents had no concept of what this meant and spent a lot of time researching and trying to educate themselves on the community so they could help Andy become Andy.  His mom was prepared for a lot of change, but to her surprise, all Andy wanted was different pronouns.  Slightly fearful of having anything put in his body, and too busy to jump through the medical hoops, he doesn't think it's the right time for testosterone.  Since he came out, he's been training his voice to be deeper and presenting exclusively as male full-time, so he doesn't feel as much dysphoria as he did before.

After he came out as trans, Andy's girlfriend has broke up with him.  She was a lesbian and became less comfortable with the idea of Andy being a man as he got more serious about it.  This was tough for Andy since they dated for a long time, and she was with him through some of his hardest adolescent years.   He started working with a local dance crew. Having a history of sports and being quite athletic, he was quick to catch onto it, and the guys from the group loved him.  After a few years of trying different college courses, he started working a retail job at a clothing store.  He was hired under his previous name (which was his legal name at the time), but even after he legally changed his name, his coworkers, especially his manager, were extremely reluctant to call him "Andy".  Work became very stressful for a while, particularly because of his manager's disdain for his life choices, so Andy was forced to quit.

He got his breakthrough when he met a boy named Leo at a party, who turned out to be the manager for a local coffee shop.  He loved Andy, and after hearing about his work troubles, he offered him a job.  In Leo's mind, nobody should be bullied in a workplace, especially not for being themselves. Andy quit his job at the clothing store to start at the coffee shop, and he and his charming attitude seemed to fit right in with the crew.  He's currently saving up money for top surgery and to cover his living expenses during his recovery.

Misc Facts

  • Pretty chill with his body but can get quite dysphoric under sexual circumstances if he feels as if he's being misinterpreted. He's quite sensitive about people talking about his body.
  • He got an IUD so he doesn't have periods anymore, which helped so much with his dysphoria, and now most of his dysphoria lies in his chest.
  • He doesn't have any meaning behind most of his tattoos, he just likes covering his skin with them.
  • He lost his finger when he put his hand on a moving saw as a kid.  His pinky and middle finger were still slightly attached when he got to the hospital, but he had totally misplaced his ring finger, so they could never reattach it.  They never bothered to get a prosthetic, since it's not his dominant hand anyway.
  • Commutes via his moped.
