A wannabe hero prophesied to become the monster that will end the world.

STORY

Visons of the mountains falling before you.

The dragons of the Storm-Crowned Mountains are (mostly) lawful good, but this doesn't mean they are without their faults. They are vain and stingy, like all dragons, a bit haughty and definitely isolated from the world in a way that makes them often ignorant of other peoples and experiences, but perhaps their biggest flaw is that their endless amount of tradition and ceremony perpetuates a culture of hurt. Oftentimes the loose-but-rigid structure creates outcasts, and outcasts are not often treated as kindly as the dragons would like to believe.

Lightning breaks the sky in slow motion.

The dragons live in a hidden land, surrounded by mountains so tall they disrupt the clouds, catching wisps on their white-capped peaks, brewing storms over the lower lands. Some say this is where the dragons learned their magic: of storms and thunder, flying high in the thin air above the mountains. Below, a verdant subalpine meadow decorated with trees, wildflowers and sheep surrounds a crystalline lake fed by the glaciers above. The lake truly is the crown jewel in the dragons' collective hoard; full of fish and perfect for swimming and drinking. It is said that one of the only non-flying ways into or out of the valley lies ina hole at the bottom of the lake. Caves in the nearby mountains provide comfortable and spacious lair space.

A swarm of bats flies in circles widdershins.

Though the dragons are perpetually in a surplus of everything they need, it has long been prophesied that the prosperity will be destroyed by a dragon that hatched from a discarded egg—that dragon would come blue as the bronze dragons' evil cousins and leave behind it a trail of blight and blood wherever it would go. The only way to stop the realization of this new god of destruction would be to kill it before its horrible power came to fruition.

A dream of a wicked cobalt-blue dragon laying atop a mountain of bleached skulls.

The Elders came up with a plan as such: when Saamsinma came of age, they would be polymorphed into a human form and sent on an impossible quest in the outside world. In this manner, they would have precious time before their Shangri-la was destroyed to take refuge on another plane if Saamsinma really did become the Emperor of Destruction. Sending out the order that none should speak of the prophecy, the Elders adjourned this meeting with the resolve to watch carefully both for signs of corruption in Saamsinma and for a strong and dutiful dragon of similar age to act as a guard for the polymorphed Saamsinma, a messenger if signs of corruption surfaced, and a soldier in case the subject of the prophecy needed to be destroyed.

Personality

Saamsinma is greedy and proud and a little gluttonous, and as a young dragon, has a penchant for making silly mistakes but being too vain to admit them. They are rambunctious and don't have an indoor voice, and tend to be impatient and stubborn, rarely taking well meaning advice unless they are tricked into thinking they came up with that idea themself.

Despite their flaws, Saamsinma is loyal, empathetic, and believes in the best in everyone. Since they often feel that they are inexplicably unlikeable and are a general disappointment, Saamsinma goes out on far too many limbs for others, putting themself in harm's way even for people they just met; this can make then quite easy to manipulate.

Moments of frustration, anger, and self-hatred cast Saamsinma further and further towards fulfilling the ancient prophesy that caused their kin to act wary of them from their hatching. Foretold to be the the legendary "Emperor of Ruin," they are unaware that they are fated to bring about the end of empires if not civilizations.
