Alune

Alune was a fairly standard owl in the pet trade. Until she was purchased by Sabine her life was to be expected. Once granted with her magic, Alune was "Awakened" in a way. She was granted sapience, with the caveat being she could only see the world through the eyes of a young child. Her understanding of life and how the world operates is very limited, despite the fact she is indeed an adult owl. Alune is very much a watcher. She stays back, observes the world around her, and relays said information to Sabine. She's learned to make her recounting entertaining in order to keep the attention of a child, making her very artificially upbeat and excitable. After Sabine was imprisoned Alune was cut off from a lot of her magic. She's been regressed in level to basically that of a novice mage, which causes a lot of frustration. Her ultimate goal is to free Sabine, but her childlike wonder with the world gets her very easily distracted. Sabine doesn't mind, though. She can still see and hear via Alune after all

Born in the country of Nexx as a decedent of the Tredzil lineage, Sabine Tredzil is an 8 year old noble with extraordinary magical abilities. Because of the infestation Sabine was kept in lock down most of her childhood. Her family was too high profile to risk letting her outside. The state of the country was too frazzled at this point, and not only would demons pose a threat but rogue citizens would also be a major issue.

To combat this, Sabine sought out a familiar that could allow her some form of freedom. She ended up acquiring a snowy owl from the exotic pet trade and with her magical abilities made it her familiar. She then used this familiar to artificially see the world; sending it out to collect items or observe events she wouldn't normally have access too.

Disaster eventually struck. During a demon raid a few opportunistic anarchists broke in to Sabine's residents with the intent to assassinate the noble family. But, them having SOME semblance of a conscious, decided rather than kill a "defenseless" child they'd rather seal her away. Imprisonment was cast on her and that was that. But, unbeknownst to the assassins, Sabine's magic was strong enough to somehow keep in contact with her familiar. Since then, she's tasked it with living her life, seeing the world, and searching for a solution
