Sinclair once worked with a partner turned lover in tracking down leads of supernatural phenomena. It was their goal to discover the source of monstrous attacks that could not be explained naturally. Eventually they stubled upon a tear in the veil that separated the world they inhabited from a separate, undiscovered realm that contained wayward spirits and devils. Unbeknownst to Sin, his partner Alexander sought to harness the powers contained within this darker realm. He found himself forced to choose between the man he loved and the fate of the world they currently inhabited. Ultimately, with great difficulty, he choose to stop Alexander and close the tear.
Sin had always had a power that he couldn't explain, however when he used it to close the tear it was corrupted and tiwsted by the dark energies manifesting on the other side. He was successful in sealing the rift, however it came at great cost as he lost both his lover and his powers were transformed into black magic.
