Shalryn "Riptide" Pumanath

Riptide is a Rogue/Sorceror Triton, who is currently travelling the Sword Coast. She has a voracious appetite and is known for eating almost anything (or attempting to, anyway). She is currently afflicted with Lycanthropy, which manifests in her as being able to become a Wereseal. Personality-wise she is impulsive, confident, short-spoken, a little hotheaded and extremely loyal. Her backstory is as follows:

Riptide, birth name ‘Shalryn Pumanath’, was born to a litter of only two, the smallest litter size in her family. Her twin brother, Valzas, was the only other member of said litter. The two were naturally quite close, and even completed their first hunt together. They each have one large tooth as a trophy from the same Megalodon they hunted. While Riptide is based on a Tiger Shark, Valzas is more akin to a Whale Shark, with a voracious appetite to match. 

Riptide’s family clan at one point found themselves in the middle of a feud with a nearby Triton village. Recently, a Dragon Turtle had been causing havoc in the area, which the Tritons believed was caused by Riptide’s clan disturbing it’s hunting grounds and forcing it on the move. Things got particularly heated one night after the two groups had a meeting to attempt to smooth things over. Valzas vowed to take matters into his own hands, and snuck out one night without Riptide. She never saw him again, finding only some of his torn clothing and the shark tooth trophy that matched her own. She decided to travel on her own from then, in memory of her brother’s adventurous spirit. Her interest in food and trying new things is also highly motivated by her lost twin. She carries the two tooth trophies with her everywhere she goes.

While she tries not to let the past weigh her down, she still misses her brother dearly. However, it also gives her the strength to go on and experience as much as possible while she still can.

Riptide was 14 years old when her brother died and she left for the surface. She had been on the surface for a few years before meeting up with the party, where she is currently 21 years old. Her birthday is April 1st and she is an Aries.
