Valentine is reserved and quiet, sticking to the shadows where he feels safest. He carries himself with elegance and mystery, often speaking in flowery language while also being somewhat vague and ominous. He’s more of an observer, and not one to act, sticking to the sidelines or just doing things by himself.
Politeness is a standard he holds himself to, but he often comes off as quite pretentious, with his loner attitude and desire to do everything by himself. He considers himself more mature than his peers, but he’s just better at hiding his true feelings. Valentine often tries to act older than he is, as he considers his young age a burden, hence some of the reasoning behind the veil he wears in public, it’s to hide his face and make his age more ambiguous.
He has scopophobia, it makes his skin crawl to be stared at, to feel eyes on himself, to be watched by the world. Valentine is reclusive, and this is yet another reason he hides behind the veil. It is safety, and mourning, and a protective lie all in one.
