Aigippus are a fictional species of small equines, who live in herds that migrate. Multiple herds living days or weeks apart know of each other, and communicate through messages sent by messengers in the group. They coordinate with their neighbours on grazing grounds, horses being escorted from one herd to another, dangers and other things. A horse's birth herd is marked on the ears, each herd having a signature mark. It is in this system that Rookan lives.

Rookan is not very socially gifted. They are polite, although in an awkward way that may make them come off... less eloquent than intended. They are perceived as blunt by others, and are assumed to be uninterested in forming any social bonds. The truth is, Rookan doesn't know how to initiate anything of the sort. At some point, they gave up trying and pretended that was what they wanted all along, and now they are stuck in their own isolation. That being said, when someone is genuinely interested in getting to know them and willing to put up with their attempts to turn the other away, they tend to let their guard down. Rookan actually has a rather extensive knowledge of their environment and the elements around them.

Rookan's ears were torn shortly after birth, making them unable to receive their herd's marks. This was seen as an omen of bad luck, and it contributes to their awkward position within their own herd. As a result, Rookan volunteered to take on the messenger position, allowing them alone time.

Thorah 🦋 Friend, crush. Thorah and Rookan once traveled together for a couple of weeks, and bonded during that time. They parted ways afterwars, but have never forgotten about one another.

Physical description

• The current up to date reference sheet can be found here.
• The cuts in their ears are random. Each ear has at least one cut in it, but other than that, you're free to draw them however!
• The stripes on the hindquarters aren't strict. They are horizontal, but can differ in number.
• The mane on the back and neck is sturdy and bristle-like. It only hangs down on the face.
• Rookan is strictly feral and does not have an anthro form.
