Charles

Charles Deacon is the chairman of the Fasces Cup Organisation, often just referred to as the Fasces Cup.

Charles is a weak-willed man, though it is hard to blame him considering the circumstances he was placed in from a young age. He let power get to his head because hundreds of people were suddenly answerable to him while still at a developmental age.

Charles, never having known the struggle of working hard to get what you want, takes everything for granted and never learned to take no for an answer. From simple things like business decisions, to more critical things like making sexual advances on employees and interns.

Charles was only ever seen wearing suits, preferring to keep his public persona as clean as possible.

Charles Deacon was born as the eldest child in an aristocratic family that has been in charge of the grand Fasces Cup tournament series for centuries. The tournaments have been around for millennia, but they have been becoming less and less popular over time. Charles, as eldest, was set to take over the organisation once his father resigned, but when he dies unexpectedly while Charles is only 18 years old and still studying, he is forced to commit full-time with minimal training.

Charles, still young and impressionable, is influenced strongly by his sudden spike of authority over the people around him, and the sense of power quickly goes to his head. He spends more time attempting to woo his employees and interns than actually running the tournaments, leading to little improvement despite high hopes for the young Charles to give a fresh new face to the tournament series.

As Charles ages, the stagnation over the time with him as chairman starts to turn into another freefall, as the appeal of the young kid dissipates with him getting visibly older and more out of touch. He is eventually forced to sell part of the business publicly to keep it afloat, due to diminishing financial records as well as him having to settle many sexual misconduct cases out of court. This creates a board of shareholders who have the power to unseat him if they no longer have confidence in him.

Around this time, Charles’ path crosses with that of a young waiter named Alfa Rosenbloom, who recently started working at the restaurant Charles likes to frequent for lunch. Alfa, being a very effeminate boy, is very attractive to Charles, who often chats him up. After a few months, Alfa tells him about ideas he has to improve the tournaments, showing that he has quite a good sense of business. For Charles, Alfa is the perfect solution to his problem, while also making for a fun new sexual partner.

Alfa and Charles meet again in private later and, after a more serious chat, decide to officially partner up. Alfa is hired as Charles’ assistant, and immediately becomes a favourite for the shareholders who quickly replace Charles with the younger and more energetic Alfa as the face of the tournament series. They work together for a bit over a year, with the Fasces Cup finally seeing an increase in interest again with the lovable Alfa hosting the ceremonies. During this time, Charles often requests sexual favours of Alfa, which get more aggressive in nature the longer they work together.

All seems perfect for Charles as finally things are looking up again, but right off the heels of Alfa’s second edition of the Fasces Cup, he shocks the world by publicly stating what Charles had been doing to him for over a year. Charles barely has a chance to respond before he is showered in angry messages, emails and phone calls. The board of directors panic at the serious allegations, and make a statement to say they will launch an internal investigation. However, with increasing public pressure, they amend their statement to say that Charles will be let go, effective immediately.

Charles is still in shock over the circumstances he finds himself in when police arrive at his home and arrest him on rape charges. He is placed in detention for months while being forced to watch Alfa take over as chairman in his stead. At this stage, Charles still blames himself for the mistakes he’s made, and enters a guilty plea in exchange for a reduced sentence. At the trial, he is sentenced to 10 years in federal prison.

As time passes and Alfa quickly pushes many reforms to make the Fasces Cup even more powerful and influential than it ever was under Charles, he starts to wonder if this was Alfa’s goal all along. He spends his first year in prison getting various of his old business friends to dig into Alfa’s background. Alfa, however, finds out that Charles might be onto him and figures it to be in his best interest to remove Charles before he finds out too much, knowing that even though everyone hates him, he still has a platform and could still be capable of damaging his career.

Alfa strikes a deal with a fellow inmate of Charles’, promising to financially support his family outside of prison if he kills him. A week later, Charles is found beaten to death in the prison courtyard, his knowledge of Alfa dying with him.
