PERSONALITY

Alandria is stern, collected and has an incredibly big ego. She prefers to keep things to herself, including her feelings, which lets her come off as mean and often even intimidating. This makes her hard to read and unapproachable. She usually speaks in a sarcastic and/or belittling way and rarely sounds genuine. She can be rather cruel and won't hesitate to kill someone if she has to. Her defenses are always up and she doesn't like when people get too close and personal with her. She refuses to show her face to most people, as she knows the effect it has on others. She has a hard time trusting people, but she eventually managed to open up to her crew and it felt relieving.

On the other hand, Alandria is quite smart, having studied and read a lot throughout her life. She has an iron will and is always looking to gain more knowledge and power. She enjoys traveling a lot and gets overly excited over books. Seriously, as soon as she enters a library, her mood brightens!

NOTES

Alandria is always wearing her visor, as it protects her eyes from the sun and hides her scarred face
she even sleeps with a sleeping mask at night
her pupils are cracked and she was blind for a while, until she figured out how to concentrate her magic in a way it would restore her sight
when she uses magic, her hair billows and her eyes and hands glow
her hair is actually always billowing slightly, due to her using magic to see
her magic resembles lightning
Alandria has accidentally shared her dreams telepathically as well as sleep talked before
she has two huge scratch marks on her back, a punishment from her god Zon-Kuthon
Alandria's scars have an unnatural aura to them. Upon seeing them for the first time, one is filled with a feeling of intense dread. It feels as if her piercing eyes are looking right into one's soul, causing most people to stay away from her
scarring her face was the demon's way of marking her as a kuthite, a follower of Zon-Kuthon, for all eternity
Alandria learned healing magic in the hopes of healing her own eyes, but to no avail. Whenever she tried, the scars began burning

BACKSTORY

BEGINNING

As all drow, Alandria comes from the planet Apostae. It's essentially a dead planet with only one big city called Nightarch on it. In this city, the richest drow houses control the atmosphere, air and water supplies. Alandria was lucky enough to be born into the most powerful house, the Zeizerer family. When she was young, she discovered that doing magic came easy and naturally to her. It wasn't that uncommon for drow to do magic, but only very few were born with an affinity for it. However, on Apostae magic was frowned upon and drow who openly practiced magic would often be targets of assassins. Her parents weren't very fond of it either, so Alandria had to study and practice her abilities in secret. She spent her entire youth keeping her magic to herself and holding back, but eventually she realized she craved more power. She wanted to do proper magic, damn it!

So, in order to pursue her dream, she started working at the local library. That way, she had easy access to books on magic. During her time there Alandria got to know Endeia, the head librarian. They eventually started dating, which was the perfect way for Alandria to convince Endeia to grant her access to stored away books on darker magic deep down in the basement. Endeia warned her to be careful though. If she messed with those old books and spells, both of them and especially Endeia, could get into a lot of trouble. Alandria promised she would be careful and just read the books, not cast any spells. Pfffsh no, casting spells, that was ridiculous, she assured her. Nothing like that was going to happen.

Until one day she ended up finding a very peculiar scroll hidden away in the basement of the library. Not all of it was legible anymore, but she could tell it was some sort of summoning ritual. A summoning ritual to conjure a demon of "The Dark Prince" to be exact. Which was perfect because this scroll must've belonged to none other than her family's god Asmodeus, the god of Tyranny, Slavery and Contracts, who was known as "The Dark Prince".

Blinded by her hunger for power, she completely forgot about the promise she made. Instead, Alandria thought this would be a fantastic opportunity to not only please her god, but also maybe get the demon to give her some of its power. So she made preparations and well, summoned the demon! Little did Alandria know she had made a biiig big mistake. As soon as she had summoned the demon, she could tell something was off. The thing was covered in iron chains and open wounds. It definitely did not belong to Asmodeus. Quite the opposite actually. Turns out, it belonged to another deity called Zon-Kuthon, who unfortunately had the same nickname "The Dark Prince". Well, that sucked, but hey, happens to the best of us!

The demon inquired as to why a young drow like Alandria had summoned him, so she explained her plan to him. How she wanted more power and thought she could strike a pact with it. Upon hearing this, the demon laughed. It laughed a hearty and evil laugh. How foolish of a mortal to summon it, a servant of Zon-Kuthon, the god of pain and suffering. The beast reached out and grabbed Alandria by her head, both its palms pressing against her eyes. An intense sharp pain shot through her head and the sound of splintering glass filled her ears. Then everything turned black.

Some time later, Alandria awoke to her parents and Endeia shaking her. After the demon had knocked her out, it found its way out of the building and began rampaging through the city of Nightarch. There was utter chaos going on at the moment and Alandria was lucky to have been found so quickly. But something was wrong. Very wrong. Besides the demon I mean. Her vision was blurry and she had a massive headache. There was something going on with her eyes. The demon had done something to them. She listened in horror as her parents described to her what they saw. Her once so pretty face had been massacred. Her pupils were shattered and cracked and the white in her eyes had turned dark. Big handprint-like scars coated the area around them. It was a welcoming gift from her new god himself. He had taken her in. She would no longer serve Asmodeus. No, instead she'd serve Zon-Kuthon, whether she liked it or not. The scar on her face was his way of claiming her as one of his own. She would not get away. No other god should ever want her again.

Soon enough, Alandria's parents and girlfriend had figured out what she had done and were rightfully angry with her. Not because a demon was causing chaos, that was secondary and actually happened quite frequently on Apostae. Endeia was angry because she felt like Alandria had been using her all these years AND had broken the promise, so she ended things with her right then and there. And her parents were furious because she had been practicing magic all along! And now she had been taken by a different god and marked for all eternity. What a disgrace! If anyone found out then this could ruin the entire business of the Zeizerers! The honor of their house was in danger! There was only one way to fix this: Alandria had to leave. Now. Like, right now! I m m e d i a t e l y. So that they could get rid of any evidence and sweep this whole demon thing under the rug. They let Alandria collect her most important belongings, gave her a hooded cloak and bandages to "hide your disfigured face, dear" and kicked her out on the following day.

So then Alandria's real journey began. She travelled to the planet Akiton, unsure of what to do. She blindly stumbled through the small city, until someone was kind enough to help her to a nearby motel. There she settled down for a few days, trying to collect herself. Luckily, she soon figured out a way to temporarily fix her blindness. As long as she had magical powers, she could use them to regain her sight. If only that had been the only problem. Nightmares of Zon-Kuthon plagued her at night, and often times she'd have awful headaches. She would wake up with scratches on her back and words carved into her skin. Not even her own healing magic would help against them. Truly an annoying god. So, Alandria did what he asked of her. She lured the next best passer-by into the trashy motel she was currently staying at and sacrificed them right then and there. For Zon-Kuthon. So he would shut the hell up and heal her wounds. Which he did, much to her relief. But still, she had to find a way to get rid of this god, or she would be stuck in a cycle of torture and sacrifices.

Through more research Alandria eventually figured out that Zon-Kuthon had a half-sister, Shelyn. Maybe she could help her. Yeah, Alandria just had to find a way to contact her and surely she’d know what to do. Shelyn was a goddess after all! But what to do until then? Hmm … maybe gaining more power was a good start. Yeah! Gain more power to withstand Zon-Kuthon for now. Sounded like a plan. Just gain more strength. More knowledge. Do more research. Become better at magic. Slaughter the people who dare to stand in your way, she thought to herself. So, Alandria got herself some equipment, a new outfit, a visor (to hide her eyes more conveniently) and joined the Starfinder Society. It was the perfect way of learning more about the world, practicing her skills, indulging in her power above others once in a while and earning some money!

PRESENT

Nowadays Alandria is traveling around with her fellow crew mates. Their current mission is to hunt down the Devourer Cult and put an end to their plans of world destruction. Alandria has lost some of her edge over the course of this mission and is finally warming up to her team mates after sharing her past.

RELATIONSHIPS

CAKES
colleague (ysoki witchwarper)

Despite the fact that Cakes' gullibleness and friendliness irk Alandria to no end, they seem to get along alright. Alandria doesn't understand how someone could possibly be this naive, but she's trying to be more empathetic.

ESH
colleague (lashunta envoy)

Wow, Esh sure is ... something. Alandria finds her annoying and frustrating, yet somehow amusing? Esh's ridiculous escapades (or should I say ESHcapades?) are entertaining, even for a grumpy drow like her. They switch between arguing and getting along.

ICH
colleague (android solarian)

ICH's level of sarcasm reaches beyond Alandria's. They're the only one who seem to look right through her bullshit and it annoys Alandria, yet also intrigues her. Recently she's grown kind of fond of them.

MALTE
colleague (raxilite nanocyte)

Malte joined the team only recently, after Kellovan and Escap had died. He's talkative, funny and knows how to get a job done. Alandria gets along fine with him and often finds herself agreeing with his ideas.

RELATIONSHIPS

KELLOVAN
colleague (vesk soldier)

Kellovan never talked much and Alandria appreciated it. He got the job done and didn't constantly stick his nose in her business. Despite his quiet and stoic demeanor, he was quite nice and the first one to accept her despite her horrific past. Unfortunately he died just when Alandria started to like him.

ESCAP
colleague (android pilot)

Escap was also a quiet crew member. Him and Alandria never really talked much and mainly co-existed quietly. He, too, passed away in the same fight as Kellovan.

ENDEIA
ex girlfriend

Endeia was the head librarian at Alandria's old library. They were together for quite some time, until Endeia broke up with her for reasons yet unknown. The two met again later on, but Endeia was no longer the person Alandria once knew. She had abandoned the library and joined the Devourer Cult instead and was now working against the Starfinder Society.
