Aneiris

Stats

 Height:   slightly below average

Age:   20-21 ish at the time of his death

History

Separated from the one he loves by death itself, Aneiris's soul is trapped in a realm called the Immaterial Plane, a region between the realm of the living (the Material Plane) and the mysterious realm of the dead. Souls become stranded in the Immaterial Plane when their death involves a betrayal so deep and profound that their entire sense of self becomes disconnected from who they are, preventing them from being able to navigate to the next life, causing them to lose their way and wind up in the strange land between life and death.

Personality

Before he died, Aneiris was a lighthearted, bubbly, somewhat shy individual - his favorite pastime was finding the quiet, secluded areas in and around his town, and spending the afternoon there drawing. After dying, it's as though he collapsed in on himself. Where he once was shy but friendly, he became painfully reserved, avoiding the other souls in the Immaterial Plane entirely, with only one exception.

Design Notes

(separate tab for pre-death aneiris coming soon) In the Immaterial Plane souls float freely, unbound from any physical container such as a body, and as such their appearance can vary depending on emotional state or preoccupation. Because of the extremely traumatic circumstances under which most souls wind up in the Immaterial Plane, the vast majority of souls have an altered appearance that reflects the manner in which they died. In the Immaterial Plane, Aneiris's skin is no longer the soft pinks and purples from when he was alive - instead his skin and hair look as though they were made of a soft, smooth gold. He also has a laurel headband that he would much prefer to be rid of, but each time he throws it away it reappears back on his head moments later.

Relationships

Forsythe

When Aneiris arrived in the Immaterial Plane, there was only Forsythe there. She comforted him when all of his memories of his life, and of his death, came flooding back to him all at once, and she explained to him where he was, and the rules that the Immaterial Plane are governed by. He wishes he could return the favor and offer her some comfort, but whenever he asks about her life before the Immaterial Plane, she just smiles and waves him off, insisting that she can't remember a thing.
