BACKSTORY:
After his parents died in a freak accident, Gregory Byrd was taken in and raised by his grandparents, Atticus and Margaret Adler. They taught him to enjoy the simple things, like the flora and fauna of the Earth. A birdfeeder that Margaret bought long ago was always hung off the front porch for everyone to see, and Gregory loved watching the birds (and the occasional rogue squirrel) visit. Atticus and Margaret are rather technology-illiterate, so most of the educational information they get is from their book collection. Gregory's favorite book was the bird field guide, which contained lovely hand-painted illustrations of various types of birds. Eventually, he learned to identify the birds that would come feed at the porch. Margaret also owned an African Gray parrot named Adam, who loved to chat. One fateful day, Margaret was carelessly smoking inside, and the toxins were too much for Adam. Gregory called for his grandfather, who promptly started to argue with Margaret. All the while, Gregory was mourning the loss of a parrot who passed way too soon. Today, Gregory is the current owner of Citrus City Aviary, where he cares for (and protects) many different types of birds.
