Yu Xia

The gods haven't had an active hand in worldy affairs for over 1000 years, and the strain of their absence is slowly begining to show on this world. Rising sea levels and changing weather patterns threaten the continent, and show no signs of relenting.

Xia grew up in a teeny tiny fishing village which has been struggling to cope with these changes that threaten their way of life.

Growing up, Xia believed very heavily in the tales of Tianyi, the moon goddess which her village worshiped, and had a lot of childhood faith in the fact that the gods would come back to help them when they needed it most.

All of which was shattered by a giant raging storm hit the village and swept her childhood friend out to sea.

At this point she turned her back on the gods, internalizing all of her guilt over not being able to save her friend into disdain for Tianyi and a belief that the gods no longer cared about this world or the people in it.

Deep, deep down she blames herself for her friend's death, which has become the driving factor for wanting to find a way to save her village. Why she strives to learn more, so she'll be able to protect those around her - and just maybe, way deep down she'll never realize it exists, the faint hope that maybe the reason Tianyi didn't listen to her prayers is because the goddess is in trouble, and if Xia gets strong enough she can be the one to save the goddess herself.

In the pursuit of this, she has left her village to attend the wizarding college, and it's the driving factor behind why she's set out adventuring with the rest of the party - even if she hasn't quite realized that yet.
