Min's story starts off like many other Octoling soldiers. She was enlisted in the army at a young age. She showed potential though to fight in unarmed combat. She was able to climb the ranks and earned her own seaweed ties. It felt odd though. She felt like there was something more to her current life than this army living. Min's job was to scope out Octovalley and to capture or eliminate any intruders she came across. Min's seaweed ties were always wrapped around her hands up to her arms. She did come across an Inkling boy one time. She didn't even bother using her weapon. She just a physical warning not to come back. But the boy did continue coming back for some reason and it would result him on his back and on the floor. But that's a story for another time.

In her time in the army, Min was able to befriend only one Octoling she ever considered a friend. That friend would be Ji-Won. Both were best friends and Ji would be the only one Min could talk to about anything without any worry of judgement. As time passed by, the Incidents of Agent 3 occurred and Min was pushed out of the way of falling debris. It was Ji that saved Min and fell to what was assumed to be her death. Min was able to hear the Calamari Inkantation and it awoke something in her that made her reconsider what side she was on. She didn't want to be in the army anymore if it just means misery and death. During the chaos and fall of Octavio, Min was able to escape from Octovalley and set off to Inkopolis to find a new purpose for herself.

She barely had any funds for herself and had to stealthily sneak past any security or law enforcement. Once she was in, she thought she had to disguise herself due to past wars. But to her luck, Inklings just thought she was one of them with an interesting hairstyle. Min used what she had and purchased her newbie kit to start turf wars and earn some money to live off of. One day though she encountered a scrappy looking Inkling in an alley. The boy looked like he was just surviving what he could find. She could relate to him and took pity. She thought maybe this would be a new purpose for her. To help out this boy and in return it would fulfill her purpose. The boy was skeptical at first, but agreed and let her help him. Both took turns using the official turf beginners kit until they had raised enough money to get their own. Over some time, Min grew to trust him and vice versa. This duo would be known as Lawrence and Min.

Min and Lawrence were doing well for themselves. Then the power went to Lawrence's head. As best as Min tried to steer him on to a path of being a decent being, Lawrence still got engulfed into his own ego. After the incident of the turf league, she saw and heard what happened between him and Anne. She apologized for his actions and went back to their shared apartment. Min was about to take her stuff and stay over at a friend's house, when she heard someone bust through the door. It was some thugs and they wanted to kidnap her. Min kept up a good fight though and gave them a good beat down. One of the thugs though mentioned if she didn't go with them, then Lawrence would be killed. Without any hesitation, she gave herself up and they took her back to their hideout. It was there she was shackled to a wall and the thugs from before, took their turns paying her back for what she did to them. She took all the hits and was praying that Lawrence would be alright. She knew they set it up for him to fail and her to die. She was starting to lose hope, until she heard someone screaming and jumping down from the ventilation! It was Lawrence! and it looked like Anne was helping him. Reckless of him to involve a young girl, but she was glad he came to save her. Fast forward to the group escaping and Min kicking the boss' ass. Lawrence vowed to her that he would change his ways and not take their friendship for granted ever again. Min was just happy that he was alright.

After these events, Min ventured back to Octovalley to find any clues on Ji. She saw her fall, but she had hope that Ji may be alive. She packed her own gear and disguise for herself to sneak past the soldiers. She managed to find the records room and saw that Ji was MIA and no reports of a body found. There was some hope. She went back to where Ji had fallen to maybe find some clues. She wasn't alone though. She was quickly confronted by and Inkling wearing some strange attire. There was some old looking cuttlefish too. During their fight, the ground beneath them crumbled and all three had fallen down. Min later woke up to find herself in some strange underground looking subway. The Inkling was no where in sight, but the old cuttlefish was with her. When asked who she was and what she was doing in the army facility, Min explained she was looking for the whereabouts of a friend. The old cuttlefish was skeptical, but he needed a way to get out and find the Inkling he was with. When Craig's walkie talkie is intercepted with two unknown creatures on the other end. One of their voices sounded very familiar to Min. So fast forward to old looking phone who promises Min and Cuttlefish a way to get back to the promise land. Min accepts the challenge and completes the tasks without much struggle. She is very suspicious of the box though. She's seen the Octarians in a strange color and none of them seem to respond to her secret army codes or when she ID'd herself to them. Min later has gathered the pieces the box has asked her to gather. When its assembled, Min didn't want to step into it, but Craig has. She steps in with him and readies herself to protect him. She wasn't expecting it to be a death trap though. The girls send out a distress signal and in comes two figures that break the blender of doom! One is the Inkling who is now unconscious on the ground, while the other is...its Ji!?

Min is quick to embrace her. But Ji doesn't seem to recall her at all. Min tries to bring up stories of their interactions and even the kind of bond they had. But Ji is having trouble remembering. Min then reaches into her pockets and looks at the mem cakes. She takes Ji to the Iso Padre and uses the mem cakes to help Ji out. Iso Padre tells them it may take some time for her memories to come back. Meanwhile Cuttlefish is looking after the Inkling. Ji and Min, being the only capable ones to find an exit, set off to the surface. Both work together and easily get to the elevator that takes them up. Its there they are confronted by the Inkling with something attached to their face. During the battle, Min pushes Ji out of the way of a splash down. Through this Ji remembers saving Min and her memories come flooding back. Both take down the Inkling and make it to the surface. It is there that they meet Pearl and Marina. Now seeing Marina, Min recognizes her as the prodigy of the Octarian army. Seeing her work with an Inkling, makes her nostalgic of her home where Lawrence is waiting for her to return. Her thoughts are interrupted by the phone box and its weapon of mass destruction. Both her and Ji get to work by Cooperating with Marina's plan. Min takes care of the sanitized Octarians, while Ji detonates Marina's bombs. Both girls complete their part of the plan and watch Pearl defeat Commander Tartar.

Both girls return to Inkopolis and Min introduces Ji to Lawrence. Min-Jong is a very kind natured Octoling. She never really used her weapon or has killed anyone. She only used her fists and would always let intruders go after beating them up. Lawrence means a lot to her, like a brother. Ji is also like a sibling to her too. Min is very fast and agile in turf. She uses the Dark tentra dualies and is very fearsome when you try to 1v1 her.
