 Introduction

     It is said that when the first summer arrived in Halsomen, the sunlight was so fierce that not even the night could do away with its scorching heat. The land became so parched that, on the eighteenth day, even Halsomen's sacred alabaster statues crumbled before the sun. The grieving people prayed before the ruins for a miracle, and, as if in answer, she rose from the alabaster. She stretched her arms and spoke in a language none could understand, as every 'word' struck at the stolid sunlight, causing it to waver. When the eighteenth hour struck and her address ended at last, the sunlight had abated away, like sand slipping through fingers, and a gentle chill breathed upon the hilly countryside once more. Just as she had mysteriously appeared, so too did she depart once her job was finished, leaving in a flash of light.

     They named that savior spirit Enna - "light" - and ever since then, the people of Halsomen have blessed each other in Enna's name for safety, tied the hair of their children in braids for protection, and worn orange blossoms on their heads for health. A temple of pure alabaster was erected in her honor and to this day, it is still a site of pilgrimage for a wide variety of scholars, devouts, and travel-weary journeyers. Although she does not often appear before others, preferring to survey her depictions through time, she watches over those she can afford protection towards as she retreats to the astral planes, knowing that her promises are as fleeting as the mortals she makes them with.
