Paper lives in a floating island in a starry void that ever expands. The god Scythe's domain, she is Scythe's pet.
Though Paper doesn't spend a lot of time there, sometimes 1 to 2 months. Most of the time she's being reincarnated into different lives.
In these lives she does not remember who she is or her past lives until she's dead/in the void world with Scythe again.
When reincarnated into a new world she has the chance to either have the attitude of a child or knowledge and attitude of an adult.
