  •  Name   Haleth Menethil (née Shaw)
  •  Age   Unknown
  •  Height   168 cm (5.5")
  •  Class   Warlock (Former Mage)
  •  Gender   Female
  •  Family Background

Haleth Shaw was born in the Fall of year 5 in Gilneas, as the daughter of Meghan (née Shelby) and Francis Shaw. Her mother was of Arathi descent, while her father had Gilnean ancestry. She was the youngest of seven children. After the rise of the Lich King, Haleth lost contact with her family. The whereabouts of several members of her family are unknown, although it is most likely that they are deceased.
  •  Backstory
Haleth (Shaw) and Arthas (Menethil) first met as children, around the ages of seven or eight, during one of the many diplomatic gatherings hosted by King Terenas Menethil II in Lordaeron. On that occasion, Sir Francis Shaw — a respected noble from a family loyal to the crown and entrusted with key intelligence tasks — brought along his youngest daughter, Haleth. It was Francis’s hope that she might better understand the kingdom’s heart and perhaps even learn a little of the wonders of Dalaran. Haleth’s upbringing could not have been more different from the polished courts of Lordaeron. She lived with her mother Megan and six boisterous brothers in a modest cottage by the serene shores of Lake Lordamere. Growing up amid boys, Haleth was spirited and headstrong, unafraid to wrestle or shout. Her parents soon realized she possessed a spark quite literal in nature: she had an innate talent for controlling fire, a gift that marked her path toward becoming a fire mage. It was in the rose gardens of Lordaeron’s palace that Arthas first approached her, curious and eager to make a new friend. They wandered among blooming hedges, speaking of childish dreams. From then on, whenever Francis Shaw traveled to Lordaeron on duty, Haleth accompanied him — and she and Arthas would pick up exactly where they left off. Over time, they became inseparable childhood friends. When they both turned twelve, their meetings grew scarce. Duties pulled them apart: Arthas was drawn increasingly into Uther the Lightbringer’s tutelage, beginning his rigorous training toward knighthood and the Light. Meanwhile, Haleth’s budding magical talent earned her a place at Dalaran to formally study under the Kirin Tor. It was only at around eighteen/nineteen that fate reunited them. Arthas, notorious for slipping away from Uther’s stern lessons or palace obligations, rode to the outskirts of Dalaran with Invincible, his cherished steed. There, among the lilac fields, he came upon Haleth, pausing from her studies. The years apart had changed them both. Arthas was momentarily stunned to see the spirited girl he once knew now grown into a striking young woman. Haleth, too, felt a rush of unfamiliar warmth and shyness. Arthas did not hesitate to charm her. He coaxed her from her heavy books, urging her to ride with him across the rolling meadows. Though Haleth was driven by fierce ambition — determined to distinguish herself among the many promising mages who caught even Archmage Antonidas’s eye — she could not deny Arthas’ earnest smile. That afternoon, she let him lift her onto the saddle before him, feeling his arms around her as they galloped across the sunlit fields. From that day, Arthas found every excuse to see her. Sometimes he’d ride to Dalaran’s outskirts to beg for a tour, hoping she might show him even just the winding streets or crystal towers that so enthralled her. They would steal moments together: sharing pastries from market stalls, talking until dusk by hidden streams, and laughing as though war and darkness were foreign concepts. Uther occasionally found them together — often with Arthas skipping training. Though Uther sighed at his young charge’s priorities, he understood love’s pull. More than once he offered Haleth gentle words of guidance, reminding her how vital it was for Arthas to temper love with duty, just as she herself was learning to balance magic with compassion. As months turned to years, their affection deepened beyond mere courtship. After two years of stolen afternoons, shared secrets, and countless tender glances, Arthas proposed to Haleth beneath the silvered branches of a moonlit grove. Overcome with joy, she accepted without hesitation, unable to imagine a future without him.
  •  Rise and Fall of the Lich King
  •  Lich Queen AU
  • Arthas and Haleth got married earlier than in any other AU. Varian visited them for a couple of days in Lordaeron, for what he wouldn’t know was for the last time, while Zireael chose to stay back in Stormwind. At that time, Ziri was pregnant with Anduin, but both thought it would be better not to tell anyone for the moment until a couple of months had passed by.

  • The day after the wedding, Varian started the morning with a walk through the Silverpine Forest, close to Lordaeron Castle, noticing something strange going on in the woods. He witnessed an odd creature lurking in the woods, creeping, placing oddly shaped totems, and casting suspicious spells. He turned back fast, telling King Terenas about what he had just seen. But the King acted oddly calm and unsurprised. He even told Varian to keep it low, not telling his son and daughter-in-law about any of this, while he would send out troops to check on it.
In the past weeks, more and more citizens came up with their concerns, and it seemed to be something sinister. Little did he know that the Kirin Tor had gathered and cooperated with Aedelas Blackmoor. Both sides longed for more power. Planning a coup throughout months, letting it peak into a war against the King of Lordaeron.

  • Neither could Varian keep Terenas’ reaction a secret. He told Arthas, who, as the new, future King, must take leadership into his own hands, keeping his people safe. The three decided to check the ongoings in the Silverpine forest on their own. But once they came closer to the walls that split Lordaeron from the once lush, green forest, they saw it at once. The place looked horrible, miserable, as if all life had been sucked out of it. Someone, or something, must have done that. Clearly not Aedelas Blackmoor, they could tell. He was a gruesome man, but not experienced with this foul magic at all. Neither was the Kirin Tor.

  • Haleth decided to burn down some contaminated spots, in hopes to stop the spreading of this unknown scourge, while Arthas purged some of the spots. It was too much to bear for the three alone, and they decided to go back home, informing Terenas about these happenings as well. Haleth didn’t feel alright on her way back. She felt dizzy and nauseous, and they assumed she must’ve accidentally inhaled spores. Days later, the unheard warnings turned into gruesome reality. The Kirin Tor attacked under the lead of Aedelas Blackmoor the Capital City.

  • Terenas, however, was prepared. He sent his wife Lianne and his daughter Calia away under the guidance of Alonsus Faol and commanded Falric to escort the Prince and his wife through the back gates, where they should take a boat to the other side of Lordamer Lake.
Arthas and Haleth fled to Gilneas, finding shelter for the night. No news came through, and only weeks later they would find out that Lianne died, ambushed by mages, and Terenas fell in battle against the troops in his own Castle.
Knowing they weren’t safe in Gilneas, Arthas decided to go to Stormwind, asking King Llane for help, reclaiming Lordaeron together with the Army of Stormwind
