Sona Dewprism

Rathael and Aesaelion's mother. A regular woman who lived through irregular circumstances. Her marriage to her late husband, Romiri, was at first a happy one; they met young, fell deep into weird whirlwind heterosexual love, and had their first baby after only a few scant years of cohabiting.

Sona believed that her poor baby Rathael was born under an unlucky star. But a few months later, Romiri broke down and told the full truth: about the family curse, and about his infamous aunt, Ylmaut, who was at this time still at large. Ylmaut had found a way to delay the Tathviel curse -- at a terrible cost. Her actions were the reason Romiri was still alive... but he couldn't bear to be benefiting from her monstrosities any longer. When he had met Sona, he had fled there, with only the things he could carry. He had kept the secret until now, because... he had believed that dark spell which still protected him might spare their child. He was wrong.

Before, Sona had known that Romiri was sickly.. that he was in some way unwell, and that he felt time keenly and preciously.

She also knew that she was pregnant with their second child. She had been waiting to tell him for a perfect moment. Bitterly, she reflected that the moment had found her now.

She wanted to carry the baby to term, she told him. And she wanted him to write to his aunt. When Romiri refused, the ensuing argument was.. ugly. They became different people in each others' eyes.

In the end, Sona Dewprism stayed up late into the night writing in secret, and sent out a desperate message to the Lifedrinker.
