Aurora Augustine

Originally from Bengal, Aro's father left India with his mother when he was five years old and immigrated to England. Once she remarried, he took his stepfather's last name, Augustine, and adopted Western culture. In college for astronomy, he went to Alaska to study abroad and met her mother, an Inuit woman with roots that ran deep there. While Aro's older sister, Stella, was always drawn to their culture, Aro struggled like her father to feel a strong connection to her bloodline. Ever the rebellious one, she was always getting herself into trouble that Stella would reel her back out of, a habit that never quite healed.

Stella left to attent college in Anchorage, and became pregnant at twenty-one, refusing to talk about the father, stating he wanted nothing to do with them. A single mother, she was determined to finish school, so when their mother grew sick, Aro promised Stella she would stay home and care for her, sacrificing the dream she'd always harbored of leaving the countryside. Once their mother died, their father did not handle her passing well. He was unable to stay in the house and left, neither of them hearing more than a word here or there from him since.

Near the tail end of her mother's life, Aro met a man named Ezra and found comfort in him when she felt otherwise alone. Once her family was gone, he stayed with her. Their relationship was rocky for years, but Aro tolerated it because being alone scared her more than being unhappy. Working as a bartender, it was easy to turn to alcohol when things were stressful, which became one of the biggest points of contention between them. Despite this, he still asked her to marry him, and she still said yes, only for him to act on her worst fear and disappear to rethink a month later.

in the beginning... Aro's story doesn't start with her, but rather a young woman a couple thousand years ago that decided death didn't have to mean giving up the one she loved. As Kiya fled her ransacked city with both her and the woman she loved fatally injured, the witch preformed a ritual that would link their souls, ensuring she would never have to lose Sitra again. Nearly two millenia later and their souls belonged to a girl in a Romani troupe and a boy that ran away with her, only for their story to be cut short when he gets turned into a timeless monster.

Kiya's soul followed Khodai as he traversed Europe, trying to run from things that he carried with him. Crina knew him as a man, the first and only love of her ordinary life, taken from her. Astrid met him as a beast in the Scandenavian wilderness, persistent woman that drew the attention of something long lost. Theodosios in Greece, Kayvan in Istanbul, and Rory in Scotland, they all carried Kiya's promise with them.

Molly was the daughter of a zoologist in Victorian London when Khodai met her. Sharing her father's passion, she became dedicated to studying and documenting supernatural species, becoming the most renowned cryptobiologist in history. Beneath the success was a more obsessive drive, however, to complete the cycle Kiya started and make herself immortal as Khodai was, ensuring she would never have to leave his side, never have to forget a single moment, never have to live with the knowledge that he would suffer with her death, ever again. So, when a mysterious figure offered her the means to this discovery, she took it, leaving Khodai behind with nothing but an unspoken promise to return for good.

Molly worked tirelessly with Madeus to uncover whatever secrets she could. It wasn't until she realized he had been dosing her with genetically modifying substances that the facade cracked. Madeus revealed himself as the son of the man that took Khodai from her centuries ago and turned him into what he had become--not only that, but Madeus claimed that he and Khodai were two of a kind, alone in the world by design. With her lifespan elongated due to Madeus's experimentation, it became clear to Molly that his goal was to keep her from Khodai until she provided him with the means to create more deathless beings, filling the void that had driven him mad. Unwilling to fulfil his fantasy, Molly used his resources to get as close as she could to the answer without it being obvious enough for Madeus to figure out on his own. Once she reached this point, she stole away with her books and journals, hiding them, stashed away for the next rendition of her soul to find.

and now... Aro's shit gets absolutely rocked when her ex-fiancee-turned-were-vampire, Ezra, bites the hell out of her. With the blood of a witch already running through her veins and a bite from Ezra's hybrid nature, Aro becomes the first known hybrid of all three supernatural branches. Not only that, but the weirdly awkward guy that saved her ass turns out to be a vampire, and she struggles to decipher if the impossibly strong pull she feels towards him is rebound or the L word. Either way, he makes a fantastic distraction from the havoc now wreaked upon her by the full moon and a presence in her head that seems to be keeping something important from being remembered.
