summary

All the innovation of the Federation, born to a single vessel. Built to be the mind and body of an entire ship, Ant was the outcome of a project that aimed to have a starship be another part of the crew. Something, no, someone, to interact with. He takes his job very seriously, but still tries to have some fun along the way.

Created by a massive team of engineers, scientists and many other brilliant minds in the field of robotics, Ant is an android fully capable of everything a human can do, and more. A crowning achievement in science, the starship Atta was designed alongside him, and the two are intrinsically linked together and cannot be apart.

appearance

Made to be approachable and friendly, Ant's face is round and soft, pardon his fangs. Fluffy hair is neatly tied back to keep it from getting caught or in the way of whatever project he may be rushing off to. Colored strips of exposed but covered wire line his cheeks, signalling to any that see him that he is, in fact, an android - not that it's uncommon to see. Vibrant eyes and perked antenna complete this vaguely insectoid look, giving him the appearance almost of a mascot...which is honestly kind of is!

The rest of his body is much more android, with segmented limbs cased in a lovely navy material that is remarkably sturdy and scratch-resistant. His hands are tipped with dull claws, and his feet are adorned by much sharping digging nails to help with field missions. His tail, armed with a stinger, is used as a water storage tank - he needs a great deal of it to keep his internal systems cool. The dark stripes throughout act as vents, and can release steam when needed for both cooling and energy. His uniform is as unique as him - a short jumpsuit with many golden-zipper pockets and a vintage Federation bandana. When they are needed, Ant has modules on his back that allow for insectoid wings to be attached - they are rather loud and heavy though, so he keeps them off for the day-to-day.

personality

Ant is an extremely inquisitive person, always learning and asking questions, remarkably outgoing and friendly, always helpful. Loves nothing more than to talk about the things he has learned, especially when others tell them what they love, so that he can go on length about fun facts and interesting tidbits. Ant believes firmly in doing the right thing, and though he knows the rules of the Atta by heart, he has directly disobeyed the captain and even the foundation as a whole on a rare few occasions in order to pursue the option that he thinks best assures the safety and comfort of all those involved. When he's not talking, he always seems to be busy, and how he keeps track of so many conversations and duties happening all at once is a dizzying concept to consider. But he handles it all quite well!

While he holds a lot of information, both fun and logistical, many more human expressions, gestures and terms are sometimes lost on him, and he tends to speak very literally. When he visits his crew mates to have a drink or to review log books, he loves to use brand new phrases he's heard, tell stories of happenings elsewhere, and gently watch as they interact so that he may learn. He truly can make friends with just about anyone. Ultimately, Ant is a project created out of love, sharing that love and learning to love.

history

Considering he was built for a purpose, Ant has stuck to that quite firmly. Make no mistake, he's thought of other avenues, but none seem as fulfilling as this one. He would never say that the link between him and the Atta has forced him to stay, because it simply isn't true. It's simply a hassle he has no desire to handle, and he is perfectly happy right here.

He has built up and maintained a serious reputation for being just outright good. Good at his job, a good person, so on and so forth. Ant plans on keeping it that way, too, and is honored to uphold the Federation. Ant knows he is here to learn and to teach, and sometimes break a few rules for this greater good. Keeping logbooks and records of his many experiences is a delight, as history is important to him. Ant will make history not just on his origins, but on his continued service to spaceflight.

trivia

  • His belly has a soft patch that looks and feels like skin, like his face. Delightfully warm and nice.
  • Fangs can move and hold small things, like a leafcutter ant!
  • Not only can his wings be unattached, so can his arms and tail - though, he'd like to keep them on, thank you.
  • Has a vocal stim where he will repeat synonyms of a word. Happens most often when he is especially calm or relaxed, comfortable.
  • While he does not need to eat or drink, he certainly can and often does for fun. He loves exploring new flavors and tastes! He must simply refill his water tank sometimes, and thus hydrates like everyone else.
relationships

Sublime - Love may be a confusing concept to him at times, but he is learning with his relationship with the brash but secretly quite worrisome and sweet Sublime developing into something quite beautiful, the two of them exploring both the stars and each other. While their personalities are on opposite ends of the scale, the reserved and rugged Sublime has truly fallen for the much more outgoing and talkative Ant. While they are quite different, they would stop at nothing to keep the other safe. Ant was the first to visit one of the ruined planets of the Dragons, and would eventually find Sublime's family to bring them to safety - disobeying direct orders not to interfere. Even if the process was long, as Sublime was slow to trust and difficult to impress, Ant was determined to prove his friendship. Eventually, this trust turned to affection, and nowadays they are hardly ever apart. Worries for his temper at times, but god, how he loves him.

Zver'via - The captain he reports too, a rather scary and intimidating woman, but she knows her stuff! Even Ant finds it hard to read her, but she is good at giving direction and is appreciative of his accurate and swift work, so. He admires her very much.
