Kenji is a swordsman training under the Chiyome clan. He may seem unapproachable, but he is a kind and gentle soul. You may get the impression that he doesn't take his training or mission seriously for someone who enjoys gaming and lazing in his room reading mangas, he actually works very diligently when duty calls. His largest flaw is that he often ends up complicating things out of worry. He doesn't like receving compliments, especially his appearance, because he is unsure on how to react. He thinks it makes conversations awkward and rather not reply. He has burn scars all over his right arm. He's not bothered about it, but he does think it might inconvenient other people around him. Kenji got the name "Cain" from a video game he used to play before the incident. He really liked the character and decided to call himself "Cain".

History

During Kenji's childhood, he lives happily with his father. One day, Kouga was suddenly entrusted to the Kimura's household for an indefinite time. Despite all of Kouga's tantrums, they finally made peace and became close friends really quickly. Fast forward to 1.5 years later, his house was caught ablaze from arsonists. Kouga was trapped and too scared to move during the incident. Kenji rushed in to save Kouga and even protected her from a falling burning wood frame. They made it out alive but was immediately kidnapped by the arsonists and placed in a brothel facility called The Velvet Pearl. During that whole tragedy, his father died with the flames. The motive behind this incident was unclear, but Kenji really despised them. Kenji suffered burns all over his right arm which the facility carelessly treated it for him. He didn't take part in any of the activities of the facility. He was instead secluded in his room where he was left with comic books to read. The facility actually planned to use him for horrifying experiments, but was then raided by the Chiyome clan. They did not know children was being kept hostage. Kouga and Cain reunited and was brought to meet the clan's mother. When Kouga accepted Mother's invitation of being in the Chiyome clan, he was bewildered. He questioned Kouga but ultimately gave in after listening to her determination. Kenji was not invited as they primarily seek out young females to their clan, but as an exception, Kenji was allowed to stay and learn the sword's way as an outsider. He started his path as a samurai to protect Kouga.
