Profile

I let people walk all over me because I was too scared to hurt their feelings.

                                OKIJIROU “JIROU” HISAMATSU

Age: 17

Height: 5’5”

Weight: idk a bit under average for his height

Gender: Male | he/him

Birthday: January 5th

Arcana: Moon

Other: Student Council President, owns too many figures, really good at cooking, has a blanket named bucket.

Personality: Okijirou is confident, charismatic and open-minded. He’s overly organized and has high expectations passed down from his parents. However, due to circumstances in his life when he was younger he put all of those behind him for the sake of other people. He loves being around people, and has a very sure of himself way of speaking, even if he’s being complacent to what other people want at his own expense. People know that they can easily get him to do whatever they need, and while he’s well-liked for simply being a good person, he’s also used by those people who like his presence. Jirou is smart, and aware that he’s being used. Unfortunately, he just didn’t mind under the pretense that everyone else had their own issues to deal with. He had an incredible fear of bothering people or wrongfully interjecting himself, and a fear of losing people by not being what they needed.

After Momo dies, he has a breakdown that lasts a few days, but comes out of it on the other side. Realizing that he wanted to die with him instead of living on for him sparked something that he had lost a long time ago. His sense of selfishness. Jirou slowly starts loosening up again, dropping his overworked and pushover ethic slowly, and going back to being who he was when he was younger. A little more reckless and free-spirited, but strict with his friends and peers on his expectations. He empathizes with people fairly quickly, and always does his best to make sure everyone around him is alright. However, it’s no longer out of obligation or fear, it’s out of want and genuine care. He becomes more open to sharing his opinions and laughs with others freely. Jirou never stops being kind and generous, but he is definitely much more prone to telling his friends off when they’re being ridiculous. He has a “no bullshit” attitude when needed.

He also really likes games and indulges himself in silly habits like figure collecting and etc. because they make him happy. His interests are all kept really personal until after everything happens. When he’s texting he’s a lot goofier than he is in person.

History: His dad owns an electronic store, his mom was a stay at home mother. It was really, really simple. They both had high expectations for their son, but were kind people who also genuinely loved him dearly. As a child, he was carefree and energetic, but also always made sure he and his friends were doing their chores and schoolwork. He looked for trouble every once in awhile, but never too often. He was happy and free spirited, but also dedicated to the morals and ideals his parents had given him. Jirou had a few friends growing up, but Hina remained his absolute best his entire life. He had a crush on her until circumstance caused him to pull away from his own feelings. His mother, Asano, had a lot of issues with depression and anxiety, and eventually she died when he was just entering middle school. He sunk into depression and anxiety as well, letting it consume him completely. While to his friends and others, he was mostly the same person because Jirou is aware of the world around him and the expectations of society, people close to him could tell he wasn’t really there at all. He lost all of his personal interests and will to live, and did everything for other people because he had nothing better to live for. When he entered high school, things started looking up for him, but now his anxiety was flaring because he didn’t want to let people see who he really was or to make them feel awful because he suddenly stopped doing things for them. Jirou loves his friends and remained a good one, even a better one throughout high school. He was elected Student Council President by choice, he wanted to get into a good university and have more footing to help out the student body. However, they ended up using it against him, and students who weren’t his friends used that to their advantage. Jirou stuck even more to himself because of it. He clung to Momo because he aspired to be someone just like him, after he leaves, he realises that it’s okay to be himself too. His father is still strict on him and while their relationship remains kind of cold, they have good moments every once in awhile. Once Jirou starts cracking open his shell again to be more like he was when he was a kid, their relationship further improves.

Miss Hisamatsu? Miss Hisamatsu?! Oh god she fuckin dead

Conviction: He awakens in Momo’s palace after being provoked by his shadow probably.

Jirou is incredibly tired of being pushed around, and he’s never been unaware of how other people treat him. He knows that he’s nothing but a face for the school and a body and mouth for the student body. Jirou wants to be able to demand things from people, and he knows what demands he would make. The difficult part is finding the words to use, not hurting people’s feelings or affecting the world around him. Because of those conflicting desires, he chooses to conform to the more passive approach as it’s less difficult on him and others. He also lacks the drive to stand up for himself and express himself after so long in isolation.

JIROU: “I know, I’m weak. I’m well aware of how weak I am. I know that I let people walk all over me. I’m a pushover, but I’m not… stupid! I’m not blind to that. I want to be stronger. Knowing that I’m not happy with myself doesn’t mean that I can change that overnight! I’m pathetic! But, at least I’m aware of it! Stop telling me to stand up for myself when I know that I need to! I want to! I’m not you, I’ll never be you! I want to be you… I...”

LOUIS-AUGUSTE: “So you’re ready to admit you’re a coward outloud? Finally! Something in common! Come, foolish boy. We shall create a reign of terror unlike any other! Louis-Auguste shall be on the lips of all. I am thou! Thou art I!”

JIROU: “...I’m ready. I won’t be silenced anymor--”

He keels over in pain, ripping at his face and head so badly he tears the skin on his forehead. He’s crying, and ends on one knee screaming at the top of his lungs when Louis-Auguste shows himself. When it’s over, he’s shaking, but looking through the holes in his fingers w/ tears in his eyes-- owie my persona hurting juice

JIROU: “I’ll… I’ll show you what I’m capable of!”

INITIAL                                                                                  LOUIS-AUGUSTE

Based on the last king of France, Louis XVI, a king who was executed for treason and high treachery during the French Revolution. He was a indecisive man, who was unfit for the title before and after his inauguration. He represents Jirou’s silent acceptance of what’s been handed to him, and refusal to think or behave for himself under the pretense that all he’ll make is bad decisions and further hurt people (much like Louis himself did.) Louis flew away from the problems of the people, and Okijirou flew away from the problems of himself. While almost opposites, they represent the same things within his heart.

ULTIMATE                                                                            PHILIPPE-EGALITE

King Louis XVI’s cousin had changed his name to Philippe-Egalite during the revolution, and was the vote that put his own cousin under the guillotine. He had his own personal desires to attend to, and despite being executed himself, had killed selfishly in order to attain what he wanted. Jirou’s conviction to finally pursue what he wants and to kill the silent king within him births Philippe-Egalite. Louis’ death brings an end to the monarchy of France, and Louis-Auguste’s death brings an end to Jirou’s outside monarchy. Ironically, truly making him fit of being known as king.

CONFIDANT: XVII - The Moon, OKIJIROU HISAMATSU

Jirou is free Tuesdays and Saturdays after school outside of the student council office, and Sundays/Holidays outside of the bookstore on Centre St. His co-op/social link freezes at rank 5 until after the events of Momo’s death.

The first time with Jirou is in the Student Council office, sorting through some of his papers. He thanks you for agreeing to help him out, as he was struggling to get it done with the extra chores he picked up. He says that since his awakening, he’s been trying to ask people to help him out, but it’s still incredibly hard to turn others away. While insisting that he considers this a huge favour and that he doesn’t know how to repay you for it, a classmate of his walks into the office and asks him to do their homework for him. He accepts wholeheartedly and smiles even after the student leaves, but admits to you that he was already swamped with his own assignments. Here you can choose to either:

1) berate the student - negative reaction, he defends the student by saying they’re probably busy too and to consider other’s circumstances.

2) offer to help him out with it - neutral reaction, he says it’s alright, do your own schoolwork.

3) state that it’s kind of him to help his classmate out - positive/neutral reaction, Jirou reaffirms that it’s no big deal, he’s just happy to be of use to someone.

4) tell him that he doesn’t have to do this to himself and that he can say no. - positive reaction, he says that it’s okay, he wants to help, but he appreciates your sympathy.

The link starts with him saying that he can take your honesty to heart, and that if you’re up to it, he’d like to spend more time with you. Next time, you won’t have to worry about helping him with anything. He’ll make the time you’ve wasted up to you.

Throughout the link, it becomes apparent that Jirou really doesn’t want to be as passive as he appears, and that he doesn’t want to give up all of his time/resources for other people. This is demonstrated with a classmate of his pushing him to his limits, where he finally snaps in his rank 7 in front of the protagonist. He admits to being emotionally vulnerable in his spare time, crying over everything that he’s put on his own plate and in self pity over not being good enough to handle everything thrown at him, but never brave enough to show it to anyone else. Here is where the social link can become romantic depending on your choice to either let him confide in you on a platonic or romantic level, or reassure him that everyone else is there for him too. No matter what, from here on out he starts to show slight development, stuttering when he finally tells the classmate no. He’s confronted by a few students, asking him why he suddenly started being a bad president and person, he fumbles, and you come to his aid. After the freeze ends, he admits that he wanted to die with Momo, not being able to admit that to himself he would’ve never made a sacrifice for another person as much as he would’ve liked to believe. He talks about how he wanted to be just like Momo since they met, strong, dependable, passionate, etc. Now, though, he realizes he’s alright the way he is. It’s okay to help people, but it’s also okay to be selfish. Acknowledging that he wanted to die for a selfish reason was strangely reassuring. Jirou talks about how his mother had died too, and afterwards he had completely given up on himself as a person. All he had been was a shell that existed to make sure his father and peers stayed happy. He never showed that, either. He talks about how his life revolved around the world around him and never the world within him. Eventually he learned how to enjoy things again, and he knows that Momo wouldn’t want him to give up on himself again. He doesn’t want to give up helping people, because he generally cares. Now, though, he thinks he can finally accept that he deserves to be acknowledged too. He jokes and says maybe tomorrow he’ll ask you if you want to hang out instead. It ends with him asking you to walk him to the train station with a large, confident smile.
