Profile

Mary Johnson

Yahweh's Therapist

Former cognitive therapist

Time on Earth: 1961-2020 AD in the United States

her previous faith while living is irrelevant

Name meaning

  • Mary - obvious reference to the original Mary who said "yes" to God's intimidating request for a favor;
  • Johnson - common surname meaning "son of John," and John is derived from a Hebrew name meaning "favored by Yahweh"
her design was inspired by lillie from pokemon for no reason

background story:

  • so Yahweh's the only deity in the universe, so of course there's no one specialized in deity problems
  • he had to consider all of the species in the universe for his therapist, he narrowed it down to humans and angels
  • humans are actually considered to have among the best therapists in the universe because they are the most intelligent creatures that have experienced suffering before, but yahweh has an awkward history with them
  • angels are divine so they relate a lot more with yahweh, but their therapy is nonexistent because angels rarely experience problems
  • yahweh consults angel liam for advice because he's had experience with both humans and angels, and liam convinces him to go with a human therapist
  • after evaluating all the human souls in heaven, yahweh arrived to the conclusion that Mary Johnson would be the best for him
  • it would be her voluntary choice to assist him though, so yahweh asked her and let her choose
  • Mary was nervous and knew it was a huge task, but yahweh assured her that she was capable and chosen because of it
  • she agreed and has been his therapist ever since
A puzzling development
  • recently, Mary had noticed a gradual change in Yahweh's behavior around her that was a cause for concern
  • he began appearing in a human form more often, despite it not being necessary for him to communicate his emotions, and it was an appearance Mary would personally find approachable and charming
  • his expressions of positive feelings toward her, showers of gifts, and physical closeness became excessive
  • Mary realized that Yahweh likely developed romantic feelings for her
  • she worried that the psychological concept of "transference" was occurring; this was when a client in therapy would transfer their feelings about someone they know onto their therapist as they worked through their emotions
  • Mary's empathetic, receptive, and soft-spoken nature may have reminded Yahweh of the late Israel and his feelings for her
  • this was a good learning opportunity for Mary to carefully confront Yahweh on this matter and dive deep into his past for the reasons why, so he could come out of this with more knowledge about himself
  • despite Yahweh's pining, Mary firmly stands her ground and denies his feelings until he eventually acquiesces
