Character

Background

Hubris' family was as normal as a monster family's could be, living in a monster heavy area in Sklep. He was the eldest child out of three children, being seven and eleven years older than his sister and brother, respectively.

His family wasn't poor, nor were they well off. Hubris' father worked a dangerous job his mother feared would take his life one day. And it did. When Hurbis was fifteen, his father died. The settlement to have it swept under the rug was a sizeable amount of money that his mother, who did not make very much, took with a heavy heart. The regret ate away at her until she became despondent.

Hubris refused to take any of the money for his future and instead insisted it be put toward his younger siblings. Hubris never saw himself as someone who could go to college and do well, so he just started working as soon as he could. At first it was odd jobs here and there but soon he started to join underground fights in Truschoby. He did well and was able to provide a good income for his family, acting as a pillar for his family - something his father had always taken pride in.

Thanks to the name Hurbis made for himself, he was able to work a high paying security job for one of the City's Councilors. It was dangerous, but it paid well, much more than his father's dangerous job. It was even comfortable for the most part, except for the occassional dirty work that challenged Hubris' morals. However, as Hubris' sister grew older, her pleas for him to leave the work behind added to his mother's, and he eventually put it all behind him.

At this point, his family lived really well, having moved from their seedy neighborhood to one closer to Dokhod. His "smart baby sister" was already finishing up her education and was set to get a great job.

Hubris had done well... but he wasn't really satisfied with himself.

Personality

Hubris is a loyal but somewhat dull. He is easy to impress - so long as you're stronger than him. He doesn't care much for thinking or analytical people, and instead values those who are physically strong and make their intentions clear.

Hubris is never in his human form unless he really needs to be. He isn't ashamed or scared to be openly himself, even if it means he scares some people. He does make an effort to not come off as terrifying when he interacts with others, especially women and children.

He can be headstrong and unrelenting if he thinks he's doing something good for someone, often failing to realize this approach isn't always the best way. He tends to say things with good intentions but he can come off as insensitive, and he can be pretty ignorant. He acts like an overbearing parent who cares, but says really uninformed things. Though, if you snap at him, he'll probabaly reflect a little.

Abilities

Hubris has the ability to augment his strength. He's already quite strong and resilient on his own, being a monster and all, but with his augmented strength and his large size, he is many times stronger than many monsters. He has a high pain tolerance, and can take a lot of hits as well. What he lacks in strategic prowess his makes up for with pure, brute strength. Hubris also has the ability to manifest a physical aura which strengthens him further. Being a monster, Hubris can transform between a human and monster appearence, although he rarely does.
