Character

Background

The protagonist of The City Maw. Kodeko Piveto was a young man who spent more time partying than being with his family, his parents and younger sister. After one such party he arrives home one night to find that his home is a crime scene, learning then that his family had been killed by monsters. After a year of going through the motions, he himself becomes a victim to monsters. As he dies, he feels bitter; him and his family had always prayed for everything. Without the strength and means to protect themselves, they'd only had the faith. He appears before the deities hed always prayed to, questioning them as to why they do nothing. Solemnly, they explain what little power they have left as a result of the lack of faith. They make him an offer: his life for their bidding and the sake of those within The City. Using what power they have to spare, they revive him and grant him powers to fight the monsters.

Personality

Kodeko is a bit reserved when left to his own devices, but knows his way around conversations. Despite what might seem like an antisocial air about him from afar, in settings where he has to interact with strangers or is put in the spotlight, people can be surprised to see he seems to fit right in and knows how to get people to open up. Kodeko is the life of the party when he wants to be, and he loves the attention. He is charmingly obnoxious, and talk a lot if you let him. One notable thing about him is he is a soothing presence, and he knows how to make poeple comfortable, whether it be with lighthearted jokes or just listening. He definitely has a lot of "older brother" qualities.

He is also stubborn, and can be critical of himself. He can end up in a bit of a dark mood when he's thinking about the what ifs and buts of his life and actions, especially when he gets hung up on his flaws. He's usually forgiving of himself, but can get frustrated when outcomes aren't as he expects them to be.

Kodeko isn't used to having very close and trustworthy friends, and he is learning to not do everything on his own. Before his family died, he wasn't the type to keep close friends, even if he knew a lot of people and was friendly with them. He was friendly, but he wasn't as kind as he is now.

Abilities

After his rebirth, Kodeko gains a stronger body. Along with this newfound strength, he also has a few powers such as being able to charge energy into his body and allow his hits to create shockwaves in their targets. While he can do this at will, he can't do it too often or at too much output or the shockwaves will damage his body as well. Along with his powers, Kodeko also knows a martial art most similar to our world's Muay Thai.

• Kodeko never makes the first move if he thinks someone is romantically attracted to him. At the same time, he is guilty of flirting for fun. He's been trying to cut back on it.
• Kodeko is comfortable with nudity. He covers up more since Valya moved in, but he usually doesn't have a shirt on.
• Kodeko is good as consoling people.
• Kodeko moves a lot in his sleep, and always ends up lying on his belly.
