In One’s pack, pups are not named until they complete their first successful hunt with the pack as adolescents. It is seen as a right of passage and a transition into adulthood to receive their name, and therefore any wolf in the pack who is yet to receive their name is given a number to refer to them by. One was the firstborn pup of the season, and therefore that is her title.
