For when you walked into the Tower,
you did not come out as yourself.

“But what about you? Brother-slayer. Spawn-killer. [Child of light]. What will you do now that we are bonded for all your lives? I gave you everything you needed in that moment. You completed your [raid].

Did you exhibit a violent display in the aftermath? Everyone wants more than they have.

A key element of all [bargains]. You are afflicted by tedious repetition.

It is my turn to benefit.

Most of those who [bargain] with me do not win.”

Personality

Sir Galliard is a man that was built for war without any of the hunger for it. He is made like an ox with the softness that goes along with it, stands taller than most but does wield it, and could crush a man with his fists alone but uses them to carry soldiers from the field instead. He never asked to be a knight, but doesn’t that mean he is all the more suited for it? The unholiest of knights are the ones who fight for the title with tooth and claw, and he never did such a thing. Knighthood simply arrived, and he couldn’t deny it.

To think him a soft man, though, would be tragic for the one conjuring such thoughts - they won’t see the temper until it is too late. He is a tolerant man, easy-going and understanding, the shoulder to rest on when your mind and body have gone weary. But he will not be stepped on, and he cannot be pushed over. His temper eventually builds, slowly and with fair warning, and he will plow through anyone that gets in his way once it's unleashed, leaving black eyes and broken ribs in his wake. Do not test his patience - it is not as ample as it seems.

His temper rose up while he was being made into the knight he is today. He would not stand for his brothers-in-arms nor himself being mistreated - broken - by their commanding officers. It didn't help, of course. He broke like all the rest. Often, however, his defensiveness would only lead to further discipline. Another lap around the track when they were already exhausted, more push-ups than they can bear, or forcing them to fight until Galliard was being held back so he did not blacken the officer’s eye. He cares deeply for the knights, and it will always get him into trouble.

For all his battle prowess, Galliard will forever choose blacksmithing over fighting, and he is incredibly talented for that choice. There is nothing more peaceful to him than working with heat and steel, tucked away in a forge, fueling his temper into red hot iron. If he ever has something on his mind, or had a particularly sour day, he can be found taking it out on new armor or swords.

But bitterness grows within him now after the Navarro Tower incident. Secrets harbor and darkness unravels, and some days Galliard can seem distant. Distracted. Lost. What had he lost in that tower? What had been taken from him?

What had followed him out?

Galliard’s Eye
No one but Galliard knows this.

To lead the other knights from the labyrinth, Galliard had to make a deal with the monster (not that he knew). He had nearly killed a portion of it, a piece of the monster depicted as a simple minion. He brought his sword up to its throat, and the creature revealed that they would all be lost in the labyrinth forever should it die. It knew the way out, after all. Whether Galliard believed it or not, he would not risk letting his fellow knights rot and die in these tunnels. So, in return for sparing its life, the creature would show Galliard the way out.

He took the deal, unaware that it was the monster after all.

Unaware that the monster had him wrapped around its finger.

It would take a week for the headaches to begin. Small and insignificant, he would think nothing of them. A month, and his dreams are strange, plagued with images that aren’t his own. Two, and he is sleepwalking. Three, and he notices the darkness at the corners of his eye, spreading. Some days, he will blink, and ten minutes have passed, time moving on without him. How did he get here? He didn’t remember walking. Didn’t remember starting a conversation. Were these thoughts even his own?

Migraines. He will tell everyone that’s all it is.

Even when he knows it’s not.

Corruption01

The hidden magic in Galliard’s blood became corrupted after Navarro Tower. Now, it has manifested in his blinded eye, a creeping darkness that slowly gives that eye new sight and new abilities that come with great costs. The eye sees more than it should, a sensitivity to uv light, the keenness of an eagle’s eye, the ability to see in the dark, the blood under your skin, the flutter of your breath. It is disorienting, blinding him as a migraine would, and he will often put a patch over it to escape its onslaught.

Currently, this power is very new to him, and he can just begin to see out of that eye. Already, it tracks people with a finesse he hadn’t known before.
