June in general is rather a calm and collective person for the most part and is dedicated with her work and rather works discreetly by herself and does not draw attention even though it can not be helped with her eccentric behavior of giving new life to the decayed animals where a lot of people find it odd. Even when working Juneā€™s responses have came off as mechanical at times which seems like par for the course when working in a job space and is often quiet when meeting new co-workers and would need time to get and know the person better to show her true self

tl;dr
born to a single parent who had to double up for her child as her husband walked out of the relationship due to not wanting to commit with parenthood. Her mother got a job at a wildlife rehab center and practically grew up at the center more than at school where she was considered the weird kid in school who would dub June as the Crow queen. And only found out her powers when hearing an owl but the first time thought it was just her imagination but. Was proven wrong when the center got an injured crow and helped calm it down long enough to get it taken care of. Fearing how her mother would react if told ā€œhey I can talk to birdsā€ and kept it to herself even after started to raise a baby crow. It only would propagate again after a situation with a new rescue crow and summoned a murder of crows to save a singular crow. Her mother gave a suggestion to do something with her powers and June did by searching through forums. Finding Phantasm and applied there for a job

Born to a single mother as their father didnā€™t want the commitment of raising a child and still wanted to feel like a free man. With nothing weighing him down Juneā€™s mother had to double up to ensure her child had the best life. So Juneā€™s mom got a job as a wildlife rehabilitator at a reputable facility. That was where June was able to get a footing into her interest in animals in between the public school system. Attend every tour given for field trips and watch ever public broadcasting tv shows about nature even read about them in every atlas book animated_skull_divider_by_gasara_d5hgokz

Somewhere about when June turned 12 and was at the facility doing homework she heard a voice. However, the voice wasnā€™t one she was familiar with at all and it talked about wanting more food and complaining about one of the workers. Naturally curiosity got June and they went to investigate the mysterious voice which led her to an owl. A Great Horned Owl to be precise and that voice she heard disappeared while the owl stared at her ā€œburning holesā€ in her forehead. June thought it was strange and chalked it up as being her imagination when returning back to her homework until momā€™s job was done animated_skull_divider_by_gasara_d5hgokz

That assertion was tested when a crow was sent into the rehab center after getting caught in some barbed wiring of a cow pen. The thing screamed and flailed on the examination table trying to remove the wires.June was nearby and began to have a voice rattle her head saying ā€œhelp, help, help, they got me they got meā€ hearing that June scrambled quickly onto her feet from where she was at the time and ran into the room. Those pleads were coming from a wild animalā€¦ she was stunned in disbelief but.. Something inside of June told her to help it while her mom told her to leave this isnā€™t the time to be there. June didnā€™t listen and went up to the scared crow at a distance but eye leveled. And to everyone's surprise she spoke to the crow as if it was a person ā€œI know it's scary but these people are gonna help you I promise could you please stay still for a moment?ā€ In a shocking moment it worked. The worked up crow stopped and was lax long enough for the staff to remove the wires and wrap up its injured legs. Afterward her momā€™s co-workers would joke that sheā€™s like a bird whisper and her mom went along with it. ā€œI guess it wasnā€™t in my imagination after allā€ animated_skull_divider_by_gasara_d5hgokz

If she had the choice between the wildlife rehab facility and school she would honestly choose the facility over and over again than school. As long June could recall it was that the kids would look at her as strange with strange hobbies like collecting dead animals like dead snakes and having them preserved in resin(with adult supervision) for the science teacher. ā€œTalkingā€ with crows at the school, none of the kids would come near her when the crows are around or during class. Which seemed nice because she could read in peace. At the time June didnā€™t know for a while that the kids would call her the crow queen. And would learn about it much later animated_skull_divider_by_gasara_d5hgokz

Not when she first started high-school as a new focus emerged; it was a crowā€™s nest that situated itself in a tree next to her room. To her surprise the crow was a mother as she laid 6 eggs that were healthy to Juneā€™s relief and began to document the progress from they are just laid to 6 healthy chicks that demanded food from their mother and when their feathers first started to come in. And that was when her dismay kicked in. One of the chicks had white feathers in the plumage. In her neck deep of reading June knows if a baby bird had any white feathers the parent bird would stop raising the baby out of survival reasons. She felt a sense of guilt for it. The poor thing didn't do anything to deserve it.. Armed with the research sheā€™s done a box to transport it, June was going to raise the baby crow herself. She knows its stupid but she didnā€™t want it to die. So she waited for the mother to leave and obtain food for the other babies and when the chance arose she grabbed a ladder, gloves and the box that now has bungie cords attached like a backpack and collected the baby bird and placed it on the table.

The last step was to be scolded by her mom for doing a foolish thing, which was going to happen until seeing the baby and saw how it almost looked like June in a weird way and she felt like June connected to it on a deep level. The scolding was changed into ā€œdonā€™t do this again youā€™re lucky my profession is letting you raise this babyā€ June chuckled slightly and was happy this baby is gonna make it as she raised it up to adulthood and named it Phobos.

When release day happened instead of leaving Phobos stayed instead of looking for a murder to join she choosen June. and will follow her anywhere including the schools field trip to a natural science museum. Said museum allowed the visiting student to dissect some owl pellets that were donated. Some people were grossed out by them while the boys of the school were recklessly tearing them apart, June mechanically worked on herā€™s and organized what bone remains where and if it's possible to rebuild it. Which she did in a cautious way so they donā€™t break. And impressed a staff member which was Caroleā€™s (Juneā€™s mom) co-worker at the rehab center he worked there part time.

He talked with Carole while at the rehab center while June was at school if she considered doing an apprenticeship working on small animal skeletons for displays. Carole asked June when she got home which was to her surprise they would even want her outside the possibility of her momā€™s co-worker singing high praises when she was in the facility. To even consider her for that apprenticeship in the first place but. Someone recognized her dedication for preserving what was left of an animal, even its bones. She said yes to the apprenticeship now with an impromptu job June dedicated that time after school for the museum they allowed her to do homework there as well.

Some time had passed and within that said time during a walk from high school to work June spotted an injured crow and in a heartbeat she ran to help it with the jacket she was wearing at the time and made the choice to skip work for the day and try to call her mom for a ride to the facility. Which gave enough time for some boys who thought they were hot shit to mess with the Crow Queen by starting with ā€œcat-callingā€ that June ignored while walking away. Not thrilled they persisted with name calling. Still nothing so one grabbed her shoulder to shake June slightly and fumbled the injured crow on the ground once more.

One of the boys picked it up and tried to use it as leverage against June but before he could do anything to it while June fought to get out of the others grasp she yelled ā€œno stop it! Someone help!ā€ in her distressed state it collected nearby crows that began to swoop at the boys and peck at them. June catches the injured crow during the freak-out and just runs until she meets up with her mom, shaken but thankful her mom came in clutch to save the crow. When they were at the facility one of the people on staff told them the crow was blind and unable to be released back into the wild. Already with a rescue crow June took in the other crow and named it Deimos. Once the new bird was settled in June brought up what happened and to her surprise Juneā€™s mom expected it and what seems like an odd time to explain this but. Carole explained to June that she has the ability to talk with animals like she can but not limited to birds. June felt relieved she was able to tell the truth and was surprised that her mom was just like her.

A bit of back and forth with what to do now that it's been somewhat resolved and all that mattered was what to do with her powers like look for a better use of them. Another couple years have passed where June graduated high and college with a major in history. Bouncing around her job at the museum building displays and cleaning up skulls for the local crystal shop. Feeling she could do more, June would browse online afterwork and would oogle search a keyword or two looking on each webpage until coming across some forum posts talking about this weird place and it was filled with conspiracy theories out of left field. It piqued her curiosity with what on earth these people were talking about and took this chance to check it out and apply for a different job from. And now taking a chance with Phastasm and see what else she could do.
