Igata
Guardian of Lightning and the Sky, Daughter of Zeus. One of Nerissa's best friends. Igata and Nerissa get along well due to their similar fun-loving, cheerful personalities; although Nerissa tends to be a terrible influence on Igata... While Igata is the de-facto leader of the group, Nerissa often helps her with speaking up, and gives her some words of encouragement - although it usually comes off as more of a jab against Igata.
Mally
Guardian of Earth and Life, Daughter of Hera. They are somewhat close, although not as much as Nerissa and Mally's sister due to Mally's more secretive nature. They sometimes get into spats with each other, although they never hold grudges. Out of all her teammates, Nerissa finds it easiest to talk to Mally about problems she's going through, as Mally tends to try and help instead of showing pity.
Zhira
Guardian of Fire and Death, Daughter of Hades. Nerissa can't stand Zhira's snide attitude and privileged background, and Nerissa's selfish carelessness constantly grinds on Zhira's nerves. But for a pair of frenemies, they're extremely close. In the thick of battle, Zhira and Nerissa will use their contrasting powers to each other's advantage, and they've got each other's back.
Poe
A mysterious eagle with a wry sense of humor and the ability to speak. He serves as a mentor for these descendants of Olympian Gods, and leads his charges in their battles against foes. Poe and Nerissa don't always see eye-to-eye, and he tends to get easily frustrated with her - if he doesn't already have his talons full with Igata. Still, she can't help but think of him as the father-figure she needs.
About Nerissa:
Cheery, enthusiastic, and a bit of a jokester, it's almost impossible to catch Nerissa without a goofy smile on her face.
When she's with Igata, Zhira, and Mally, or other teens around her age, she often takes on the role of a "big sister" or "auntie"-type friend (as opposed to a more responsible, cautious "mom friend"). One of Nerissa's worst flaws is that she sometimes goes too far with her teasing, and she doesn't realize it until someone outright tells her she's hurt their feelings. Nerissa also has a short temper, and often makes assumptions without fully thinking about the issue at hand.
Nerissa is an unabashed tomboy, and some of her hobbies include swimming, jogging, snorkeling, video games, and scouring thrift stores for books of underwater photography. She loves any kind of ocean animal, even scary or weird ones such as sharks, squids, and jellyfish. Her favorite animal is the leatherback sea turtle.
She secretly has a fondness for girlish things—beautiful frilly ballgowns, jewelry, flowers, mermaids, stuffed animals, and she is also extremely boy crazy. She especially likes to chase after guys who resemble her favorite actors or rock stars.

Both of Nerissa's parents were murdered when she was a young girl, and she was sent to live with her older cousin Theo, her closest living relative. Unfortunately, he isn't too well-off, so Nerissa has had to take up part-time jobs to help support herself and her cousin since her parents' deaths. It's difficult to find work due to her age, but she manages to make just enough so she and Theo have food on the table and a secure place to live.
Nerissa sometimes jokes that she used to pickpocket and run scams when she was younger, and none of her friends can tell if she's being serious.
Theo acts more like Nerissa's older brother than a legal guardian, and they often get on each other's nerves. They deeply care for one another, though. He wants Nerissa to be able to pursue her dreams of going to university and taking up scuba diving, but they don't make enough money for that to be feasible—at least, at the moment. Nerissa takes online high school classes, and her laptop is one of her most expensive possessions.

Appearance:
Nerissa has short, messy brown hair and blue-green eyes. When she transforms into her demigod form, her hair gains a slight 'wave' and her eyes become a deeper, royal blue. Her skin is tan, and her cheeks are dotted with light freckles.
Her favorite colors are blue, white, and sea-green, and these are reflected in her wardrobe. She tends to wear sporty, comfortable clothing. Nerissa doesn't own many shoes other than flip-flops and a few cheap sneakers. She likes to collect fashion accessories like chokers and bracelets, when they're affordable. One of her most cherished pieces of jewelry is a pearl necklace her mother used to wear.
Nerissa's demigod form embodies her seemingly-conflicting interests: her dress resembles that of a glamorous female pirate, and is decked out with pearls and brass buttons. However, her weapon is a powerful (water) gun and she attacks with brutal strength and blinding speed. She carries a gold compass on a chain around her neck; this gives her the ability to transform.
Magical Abilities
Nerissa is a descendant of Poseidon, and fittingly, has dominion over the sea. Her stainless steel pistol can shoot powerful blasts of water, similar to a firehose, and she can also control its temperature if she concentrates hard enough—a face full of either ice-cold or boiling-hot water is not pleasant.
She can also change the size and shape of her pistol to a rifle, grenade launcher, or even a canon; or duplicate her handgun for a double-attack. However, this requires more energy and focus, and is not a practical technique in the thick of a fight.
Nerissa also has a special bond with ocean animals, but only in her demigod form. She doesn't communicate with animals via telepathy per se, but she's able to sense their instincts and can even subconsciously command them to fight against an enemy.

As she becomes more adept at using her basic powers, Nerissa gains the ability to manipulate water telekinetically and use it as an attack. (Yes, like waterbending.) It's easier for her to control liquid water than ice or water vapor, and she finds salt water more malleable than fresh water.
Nerissa eventually is blessed with the power to summon storms and earthquakes through dance; fulfilling her duty as a demigod born of Poseidon.

By combining her powers of water with Igata's lightning and Zhira's fire, they are able to create a massive blast of pure, incomprehensible energy, one that can obliberate almost any enemy that threatens them.
Nerissa cannot use her powers when she's not in her demigod form, but she is a strong swimmer and has deep empathy for the ocean and its creatures.
