- She has particularly sensitive ears, which used to make her jumpy. As a kid she once thought the house was being invaded by a moth monster, when it was really just the sound of a wasp that had gotten trapped in the front door upon it closing. This earned her the nickname 'Batty' for two reasons.
A horror aficionado who deems herself a 'summertime goth', her happy place is anywhere in the sunlight, and one of her favorite pastimes is rewatching the entirety of the Jaws series (good and awful) while splayed out on the beach. Her vocabulary mostly consists of dude, bro, sick, wicked, groovy, and quirky remarks made in a blunt but upbeat tone. She won't stop making peace signs at every awkward and non awkward opportunity, and also always tends to have a lollipop stuck in her mouth no matter what the time of day. Upon first impression you might actually think she's a bit of a weird bitch, but she's just a friendly gal, and is always willing to shoot the shit with whoever's willing to listen.
A woman who lives and breathes horror. She started her own mini review series in the early days of youtube to indulge in what she loved, and her popularity skyrocketed due to her unique style and we're-here-to-have-fun-and-fuck-around charisma. The show grew so popular that once she started edging into her twenties, she landed her own set and airtime to go on TV. Her job was to host movies that ranged from widely known to barely seen, and then act as commentary to critique and point out fun facts, anything that would fascinate the viewer and keep them intrigued. Although her main gig is playing the host, she's an aspiring film writer on the side, and one day hopes to be able to find a way to fit both of the things she loves into a schedule that won't kill her.
Kandy never pegged herself as a relationship kind of girl. She's too headstrong, she's too mean, she's too afraid of commitment, and the only time she's invested in romance is when it's covered in guts and gore. That's before a stupid buff guy whistled at her in the streets and she thought it a genius idea to get back at him- she could have never predicted just how bad it was going to snowball against her. Asahi quite literally strolled into her life and took it by storm, but she can only assume that she did pretty much the same thing to him. She fell painfully hard for his stupid smiles and warm hugs, and she found that even this cat calling bastard could be tender and sweet when he wanted to. Suddenly she wants to share with him- her favorite movies, her favorite places to go, everything she could possibly give to him. She's still a little timid, this is her first time being so seriously involved with someone, but it's hard to feel like anything can go wrong when he holds her close and says that he loves her.
Margot is not only Kandy's childhood friend, but the first friend she ever made. Margot was her spark of rebellion, after the girl rented a horror movie and gave it to her to watch behind her strict Christian mother's back. They've been through almost everything together, being there for Margot when she came out of the closet and in turn Margot supporting Kandy when the woman realized she did very unfortunately like stupid men. Tough times. The two girls are practically inseparable, and they've made a pact to be each others bridesmaids in the event that either of them get married.
Mei was Kandy's first roommate in college upon her arrival to America. They didn't get along at first due to Kandy's blunt nature and Mei's kind nature clashing with each other. However, as all roommates are bound to see the absolute worst parts of each other, they eventually got over their petty disagreements and realized that they actually had a lot in common with each other, and that they were both surprisingly easy going and were huge fans of Jennifer's Body. Even after moving out of the apartment, they swore to keep in touch with each other, and Mei even once guest starred on an episode of Kandy's show to discuss the treatment towards LGTBQ+ women in horror.
