Profile

☆  Charismatic Cultist.

An Astrologian who hails from the Azim Steppe from the Kagon tribe. The Kagon worship the dusk mother, Nhaama, in direct opposition to the Oronir who worship the dawn father, Azim. Mishra was being groomed to be the next moon oracle of the Kagon. It would mean that she was their healer, leader, seer, and her only marriage option would be to the leader of the Oronir, to usher in peace between their tribes.

The moon oracle, while a title, had always been much more. Gaining strength from the moon and stars, it was a continuous cycle of leadership, power, sacrifice, and soul. The power which resided in the soul of the original moon oracle seeming to tether itself to the current. Due to this, the ritual is intense, and permanent. As soon as the former oracle dies, a new one is chosen to take her place.

To walk in the sunlight is a grave sin to the Kagon, regardless of the circumstances, and thus Mishra has been exiled from her tribe. Mishra was taken by the Garleans and put to work in a brothel, but not exactly as a worker. She helped the working girls clean up, got them what they needed, etc. Many of the females of her tribe were stationed in the more red light district because their nocturnal habits made them really prime candidates. She would be more apt to be called a chambermaid being groomed to eventually be a working girl. They felt she was too young to partake, yet, though they were unaware of her true age at all (a blessing in disguise).

There was a platoon of Garlean soldiers that frequented the establishment. While they were still Garleans, they were at least somewhat nice, especially one of the younger boys who happened to be Xaela, which with whom Mishra had a close friendship with (This is later revealed to be Nanashi). He wasn’t interested in partaking in the other "activities", so they would often chat through a wall while he waited for the rest of the guys to finish whoever they were doing. Their friendship ended up allowing Mishra to deal a bit in intelligence. Selling secrets and other information to whomever rewarded her best.

Fed up with the conditions they were made to live under, the working girls hatched a plan to try and earn their freedom. They took this band of soldiers that trusted them and treated them decently, hostage inside the brothel. Threatening to kill them and themselves if their demands weren’t met. Mishra, felt her loyalty in question. Should she stand by the girls..herself even, trying to gain back her freedom… or help these soldiers who had never really wronged them in any sort of way?

Mishra decided the latter. She double crossed the girls of the brothel and freed their hostages under their noses because she felt that it was unfair to enact vengeance on these specific Garleans. While those who she had been freed by were appreciative and wanted to grant her amnesty for her deeds, the higher ups simply…didn’t care.

They razed the brothel, and all the girls in it. Mishra escaping with her life due to the allies she had made by freeing them. They smuggled her out of the city, but that was all they could do to give her a shot at life. They cast her out with limited supplies and the warning to never be caught again.

Upon returning to the Steppe, it was already known to her that she was an outcast. Living as a hermit in a hut and raising her favorite animal, sheep, she began to dabble in using her magic for another of her favorite pastimes, healing people. More specifically, extraordinarily gifted fighters.

Only something was terribly wrong. Due to her absence in the tribe as the chosen Oracle, another had been picked, but because she still lives and is tethered to the tap of power it was now being drained by two of the same title. Mishra began to suffer from a soul sickness of sorts, one that seemingly had no cure. Her body became frail and health rapidly declined, the use of her power strained her greatly, which spurred her towards trying to find a way to save her life.

Perhaps it was really an accident, or maybe it was desperation, but during one of her favorite fighters routine visits, he succumbed to his grave injuries. It was at this point that Mishra collected his life essence by pure accident, and it made her feel...better. Self preservation seemed to kick in as she began systematically killing those she had contracted to help before to extend her own life.

Her charismatic nature never ceased to draw people to her, and as such she began to form contracts with fighters, making people fall for her, worship her only to have them turn around and be asked to die for her. (Yes, think Kiara...or a succubus I guess but is there really a difference?)

She met Altan when he needed help after Susano. Mishra usually game people one chance, healing them once, making the contract and then if they fell victim again, she would take their life. Altan seemed to notice something amiss, and after STALKING HER FOR AWHILE, found out about the nature of her contracts. Instead of attacking or trying to stop her, he wanted to make her his mate, feeling their views on power and the world were compatible. This also made it easier for Mishra to collect those pesky debts when people denied her charm. (Just sending Alty after those who won't willingly die for her).

She contracted with Vai to use everyone in the guild as a food source and to help Altan in his quest for power. They are both hoping that some sort of power can nullify the soul sickness that weighs on her, because she wishes to be free of that without giving up the gifted oracle magics.
