Hoarfrost

He always hated living in the Icewing kingdom - the terrible, overwhelming cacophony of sights, sounds, and smells! So many other Icewings! So many expectations and rules - all of which either unexplained (but you're still supposed to follow them!) or seemingly arbitrary and useless.  As soon as he gained a medium of independence, he ventured out into the icy wilderness. He spent longer and longer out on the ice floes, the desolate snow plains, the ice-choked mountains so cold and far away.
Very quickly he simply did not come back.
His parents commissioned a few lacklustre and half-hearted search parties, only to bow to what is expected and to maintain their social standing. They had no love for their strange, dysfunctional child.
It does not occur to Hoarfrost to be lonely. He is happy in the company of the wind and sky.
He gluts himself on delicious fish and seals (their livers are his favourite), and in the winter he slumbers under the snow until the spring.
