Jessie

- his mother was a mortal (seeming) woman and his father was a great kitsune spirit (Gale, aka The Gatekeeper) -- the most powerful of the kitsunes and a master of puzzles, tricks and storytelling
- her mother was a queen in the magical world she lived in, but she fled due to the war that broke out-- after she left the world was really split apart into large elemental groups each warring for the crown -- Gale couldn't leave with her
- she fell in love with another man in the mortal world who he ended up living with -- Jessie believes this man to be his father, but his mother was pregnant with Jessie when she fled the magical world, so no such luck
- due to his kitsune heritage Jessie is immortal -- he may have abilities beyond this, but to his current knowledge he only possesses immortality
- he originally lived in a human world but was dragged by his father into the magical world parallel to it -- now he is left only to escape back to his own world
- he was dragged into the parallel world narrowly following the murder of his mother -- Jessie was about to get hit by a car walking home in the rain and narrowly avoided death due to his father's intervening
- when in the human world the inhabitants of the magical world lose all their powers -- so Jessie really would've died if that car had connected with him
- Jess does not believe himself to have any powers, he doesn't know that he's immortal just yet as he's never faced death - he's clingy and latches onto whoever comes near him -- he acts cooler than he really is and his bluffing ended up causing him to tell others that he was, indeed, immortal -- when in truth he didn't know
- he seems oblivious to most things and even in the human world he wasn't really doing great in life -- he and his mother lived in relative poverty, but they were doing their best - overall Jess is a very average human being
