Relationships
- Relationship with Riley: Kyra has an overall good relationship with her father and greatly admires the work he does as an Aura Guardian. Much the same way Juri idolizes her parents as heroes, Kyra sees Riley in a similar light, although she's not outspoken about it the way Juri is. Riley is aware of the fact Kyra inherited some of his Aura abilities, and helps her understand and hone them once he deems her old enough. In all likelihood, once she's done with her journey, he'd be willing to take her on as an apprentice of sorts so she can one day take over for him if that's the path she chooses.
Despite their overall good relationship, Riley is often away from home due to his duties as a guardian, which bothers Kyra. While she is understanding of the situation, she does wish her father could be around more. This is one of the factors that leads to her underlying feelings of loneliness, as while it wasn't Riley's intention, his frequent absenses left Kyra with some feelings of abandonment .
In general though, Kyra tries to ignore that aspect of their relationship and enjoy the times her father is around. Whenever Riley is home, he showers Kyra with attention and gifts, bringing souveneers from his travels to give to her. It wouldn't be inaccurate to say she's his little princess,as he tends to spoil her much more than Dawn does.
- Relationship with Dawn: Kyra loves her mother dearly and the two have a very close relationship. Them having a lot of similarities, both in personality and interests, probably helps with this, but Kyra also just spends more time with Dawn than Riley. While Dawn's work as the new Professor of Sinnoh takes up a lot of her time, she's around more often than Riley and tries to include Kyra around the lab when it's appropriate. While in some sense Kyra is a "Daddy's Girl," she's truly closer to her mother, and knows she can always go to her if she ever needs anything.
Personality
- Kyra is a very kind and caring individual, and overall is a nuturing person by nature. She tends to be practical minded and resourceful, and while traveling, she's the one who often makes sure everyone has enough supplies for the journey. She's also often the one attempting to keep the group out of trouble and smooth over any friction between each other or the people they meet along the road. Along with this though, Kyra has a very strong sense of justice, and isn't afraid to speak her mind and raise tensions if she deems that the situation calls for it.
Being surrounded by Pokemon from a young age, both from her mother’s research and her father’s work as a Guardian, she has a strong protective urge for all Pokemon, having little patience for any act she perceives as abuse towards them. Due to this, she's very quick to jump to the defense of others (whether they be people or Pokemon). While she prefers to solve things through words and negotation, she isn't afraid to fight if the situation calls for. It's just not often her first course of action.
While overall Kyra is an optimistic, cheerful person, deep down she's quite a bit more lonely than she lets on. Growing up, her parent's were both busy with their respective duties, and she was often babysat by others, whether this be by Johanna, Beth, or her other relatives. She was very quick to latch on to Juri and Colm, and considers them her best friends, almost like siblings even.
Trivia
- - Kyra is very much the 'Mom Friend' of the group. While no one in the group seems to recognize this, some of the poeple they meet on their travels will comment on it. Kyra typically will just laugh and shrug it off, as in her mind, she's simply doing what any resonable person would do to look out for their friends.
- - Kyra would love to have a sibling close to her age. While she tries to hide it, she's actually jealous of Juri and Colm. She'll say that the two are like the younger siblings she never had, but in her heart she knows it's not the same as if they had been her actual siblings.
- - Kyra's Aura abilities aren't quite as strong as Rileys, and even with training will never be as developed or as powerful as his. She can use them to sense others Auras, and after a lot of practice, is able to project her own Aura into being used as a barrier. Past this though, she's never really able to use them for much more.
- - In her darker moments, Kyra sometimes finds herself wondering if her father's duties as a guardian are more important to him than his family, although rationally she knows this isn't the case. While she always thought she would one day take over his duties, as she gets older she becomes more hesitant to this idea, as she doesn't want to completely devote herself to something that would negativly impact her own family if she were to ever get married and have children of her own.
