There was a thunderstorm that night. The gritty tarmac shimmered in the moonlight as the rain flooded the streets. The glint of a bunch of round, black objects caught their eye. As Hayz walked closer, the objects revealed themselves to be several fortune-telling 8-balls scattered on the ground. A strange thing to see anywhere, even less so in a darkened back alley. The sky rumbled, growing louder as they grew inquisitive. Just as they reached for one of the balls, it got struck by lightning, light blinding their vision and electricity spreading through their bones before it all went black. They only remember their life from the point they regained consciousness afterwards. They have no memory of who they were before the event.
Formerly human, Hayz came into contact with unknown magical forces while surrounded by magic 8-balls, and since then has had intense fortune-telling powers. But who are they?

- They try to be nice to everyone, but with everything constantly going on in their head and seeing peoples' destinies in front of them, and being painfully aware of the insignificance of reality, it’s hard to care about people.
- Her powers are often so strong that it’s hard for her to concentrate on reality. Sometimes she goes through days where she can’t tell the difference between reality and visions of the future. Her body gets all tingly and unsteady (like a sugar rush) when she has intense visions. She often has non-stop migraine-like pains from her powers.
- They have mild Tourettes! Most of their verbal tics are magic 8-ball answers, such as: reply hazy, try again; it is certain; yes; outlook not so good; my sources say no.
- She prefers to spend as much time alone as possible, since her head gets filled with prophecies as soon as she sees another person. Sometimes she’d like to make friends, but it’s hard. She has a very negative view of herself and often thinks she doesn’t deserve friends. She likes being outside but it’s often too loud.
- She's pretty non-physical, highly dislikes touching people in any way. It makes the visions stronger.
- The 8-balls are enchanted, and float around Hayz constantly, hence why she usually ties them into her hair. She carries the 8 balls in a backpack sometimes to appear more normal! They have to cooperate with her though (they sometimes have a mind of their own).
