Nya means a friend, a companion in Swahili. Sticking with the theme that determined her siblings names, Firyali and Tendaji wanted to give her a name that would represent her not only as a lioness but also one that could help guide her in her personality. They hoped she would grow into a strong lioness but also one who could be a friend to anyone and everyone. Someone that others could count on regardless the situation. Given the nature of her upbringing and who her parents were it wasn't difficult to be lead in the "right" direction to achieve this goal. She did grow into a compassionate lioness who was eager to help her friends and even others in the pride. A lot of the lions and lionesses in the area could claim her as their friend. She's still young though and hopes she can continue to be the one others come to for a shoulder or an ear or just general companionship.
