Reth means the king, the ruler. While at the time of his birth he was not a king nor was he a ruler, it had already been decided before even his conception that he and the next heir from the ruling line would be betrothed. The match was made in hopes of combining the ruling line and the founding line into one bloodline that would then produce the next generation of rulers for the pride. In a similar fashion to his betrothed, he was given a name that was a promise of what was to come. He was to be a king. A ruler over the pride. Now that he's older and he has been paired with his bride, he was still not a true king but rather a prince. Still, he was a leader to the pride that resided in the Kuni wa Mkondo region. He strived to be the leader his subjects needed. He strived to be the partner his princess required, one who supported her and worked alongside her to bring about happiness to the pride and the region.
