Childhood (0-13 years)

Mary grew up a sheltered farm girl in a more rural area of Japan. Her family was poor, but they were happy living the simple life. Mary was happy living there too, but her parents wanted her to strive for something more; they wanted her to not struggle financially. They pushed Mary to receive a proper education, even if Mary was against it. Mary’s parents sent her away to live with her aunt who lived near Kofu.

Adolescence (13-18 years)

When Mary arrived at her Aunt Rosalynn’s house, she wasn’t welcomed with a warm smile. Instead, she was put to work. Her aunt only accepted Mary on the condition that she work as Rosalynn’s maid to cover the expenditure of schooling and housing. Mary wasn’t told this, so she was taken aback by the workload. That, and she struggled to keep her grades up as it was; Mary had trouble focusing in her school environment because of the lack of hands-on learning. Mary’s responsibilities were so hard to manage, so she held herself back from going to social events with her classmates. Her seemingly anti-social behavior eventually isolated her from the rest of her class, making her even more miserable.

When Senior year of high school came around, Mary’s workload finally let up. Instead of high school work, Aunt Rosalynn swamped her with college prep. Mary was fed up. When she turned 18, she grabbed what she could and ran away from home. When she received a call from her frantic aunt, Mary told her to not bother looking for her.

Adulthood (18-current)

While on the road, she foolishly hitch-hiked a few times. Though she met some nice people, the last vehicle she hitch-hiked in was not full of friendly folk. Mary had to kick the window in and jump out of the moving vehicle since the driver refused to let her out. Adrenaline rushing through her, she made it to a quaint town called Momo. There, she was bandaged up and took a statement. Mary was too afraid to leave the safety of the town, but thankfully, a kind old woman allowed her to lodge on her farm.

Mary loved it there. Mary ended up staying permanently and worked aside the other farmhands. She developed a close relationship with the kind old lady and considered her family. Unfortunately, one night, the lady of the house fell down her stairs. She was in the hospital for a long time, getting weaker by the day. The other farmhands left one by one to find new work, but Mary stayed by her side. The sweet old woman rewarded Mary’s loyalty in her will; having no capable heir, the old woman left the farm to Mary.

Mary struggled with balancing the funds after receiving such a big responsibility. For a while, Mary thought she was going to lose the farm; she felt like a failure. Desperate, Mary decided to reach out to her parents. She hadn’t called them since she left Aunt Rosalynn’s years prior, so Mary was more than a little scared. However, when they picked up the phone, and they heard Mary’s voice, they cried out in relief. Mary was just as happy to hear their voices.

Since then, Mary has worked on repairing the relationship between her and her family. They assisted Mary with cutting down the amount of crop produced from the farm, connected her with trustworthy vendors, and instructed her to sell the land she wasn’t using back to the community. Mary is now enjoying her quaint farm life. She employs a few farmhands but usually takes a large portion of work into her own hands. Mary has dreams of eventually settling down and adopting a few kids, but of course, she can’t do that until she finds a lovely lady of her own to hold.
