Arata

Arata was born the second son of a prominent political family. He spent his early life generally spoiled or ignored by his parents while his older brother was expected to follow in his father's footsteps. When Arata was in his last years of elementary school the pressure finally got to his brother and he eloped with his high school girlfriend. In his absence his parents turned their high expectations onto Arata, pushing him to spend all his time studying in preperation for future job opportunities. As a result by the time he entered high school he was a model student and top of his class, though that came with some significant new complexes and an extreme fear of failure.

After starting high school Arata formed SEES along with Miyako and Haruto. Despite appearing to be the leader socially, at that time he was more of a figurehead, leaving most of the work up to Miyako who he viewed as a more competent leader. After Miyako was injured he felt a strong sense of guilt for being unable to help and became more serious about improving his abilities to at least lessen the burden that leadership placed on her.

To most people who encounter him Arata is the perfect honor student. His usual demeanor is calm and friendly, and his classmates often rely on him for support. He is a stickler for rules and organization, making him a good fit for his student council role. He's a hard worker and naturally intelligent, so his grades are consistently near the top of his class. Although he appears externally calm and collected those who are close to him know that that is very rarely the case. Arata worries nearly constantly and will often panic over even minor problems. In a stressful situation he is barely functional without very direct instructions making him a terrible leader. He tries very hard to hide this though, as he wants to be seen as a reliable senpai.
