BACKSTORY

Born as the son to the infamous court wizard, Sarzek, Ras grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth, but thanks to his nurturing and kind mother, Yuvon, he stayed relatively humble.
Ras only knows his father as being serious natured, a calculative planner, and one without much sympathy for the lower class. While his mother was kind-hearted, full of sympathy, and always willing to help when it was in her power.
As a child, Ras gained a lot of his combat knowledge from his father, while his mother contributed to his overall caring and enthusiastic nature. She would always take him through strolls through the market place of the city of Golden Scale to make sure he stayed well-aware of and in-key the people within the walls they called home.

As Ras grew older, he noticed his father becoming exceedingly paranoid, he kept telling Ras and his mother that other wizards were after his position. As his fear grew stronger, it led him to more and more odd experiments with his magic. He wanted to make absolutely sure no one could deceive, or murder him, when he wasn’t looking.
Yuvon was becoming increasingly nervous with these magical experiments as well, and tried to encourage Ras to get out of the house as much as possibly, so as to avoid their domestic arguments.
Ras was around 5 years old when one day, as he was browsing the market place, that everything suddenly took a terrible turn in his life. Their castle suddenly burst into flames with a mighty roar with the terrible sound of stone against stone. Half the city turned their gaze to see a gigantic, metallic dragon come ripping through the Tiian family castle. It seemed in agony, as it fell through the stone walls, rubble battering it every step, but with a large, clumsy flap of its wings it took to the sky, scrambling through the air as it flew far off over the mountains and out of sight.
Ras ran home as fast as his scaley limbs could carry him, to find his father, furious and disorientated, and his mother nowhere to be found. Half the castle was destroyed, including his father’s laboratory. When questioned, his father told Ras, and the authorities, that a dragon had somehow snuck itself into their home, most likely using some form of polymorph, with the intent to kidnap Yuvon, in an attempt to weaken his moral and social standing.

Ras refused to believe that was the entire truth, his mother had always taught him metallic dragons were well natured and pure of intent, that, and his father was clearly not in sane state of mind.
Desperate to find out what truly happened to his mother, Ras set out on his own, intent on finding any and all information about metallic dragons. Plus, after his mothers’ disappearance, his father began to slip from reality more and more. He never left his lab once he had it rebuilt, and Ras even suspected he had begun to dabble in necromancy. He had heard metallic dragons were very talkative, perhaps one of them knew the dragon that took his mother?

With not much to go on, Ras hired himself out as a trade caravan guard, in hopes to meet people with diverse knowledge that might be able to tell him anything they know about metallic dragons.

Though he doesn’t much like to mention his father, Ras is still on relatively neutral terms with Sarzek, and they often exchanges letters together. He is still welcome at their family castle, should he return home. But Ras would not feel comfortable around his still somewhat distraught father alone.

Unbeknown to Ras at the time, the dragon seen destroying and fleeing their castle was in fact his dear mother, an ancient Gold Dragon; her polymorph spell broken after years of living as a high-class dragonborn, as a resulting accident of Sarzek’s magical experiments. This makes Ras, in actuality, a half-dragon. Though his full draconic traits are yet to show, as he is still young. He is, however, noticeably tall for his age, and his tail and jawline are a lot pointer than the average dragonborn.

PERSONALITY

Despite his almost royal upbringing, Ras is a humble young man who is keen to see the world and experience new adventures while on his quest for knowledge.

Taking after his mother, Yuvon, he tries his hardest to help those he can. He cannot stand bigotry in any form, but is especially defensive of lower class citizens.

Because of his extreme sympathetic nature, he is easy to deceive and is rather gullible at times, as well as being very susceptible to lying. He would like to think all around him are good of intent unless proven guilty.

Despite his seemingly heroic nature, he is still young, and has not yet experienced much of the big wide world, and can get overwhelmed easy.

He’s very loyal to those who have proven to be allies, and will be sent into a panic if they are ever in danger.

He loves wildlife, be it a gigantic owlbear or a scurrying salamander. If he can, he will try to pacify creatures if possible.

His father’s name holds great weight amongst dragonborn, but only under extreme circumstances will Ras drop the name to gain a foothold in a conversation.

Because of his higher class childhood, Ras has incredibly neat penmanship, and takes his table etiquette seriously.

He loves to cook for his friends or the less fortunate. As a child, he would often spend time with the cooks in his castle, and learnt to cook in their place so they could have the occasional break.

Since leaving his homeland, Ras feels rather lonely not having as many dragonborn around. So he’s ever filled with joy whenever he meets another Strixiki, and will usually try to strike up a conversation, even if they look like it’s best to stay away from the individual.

ONGOING

After taking over a hostile young green dragon’s tower, Ras found a set of beautiful, silver, draconic armor, that covers his head, tail, throat, and shins, that allows him to use his breath power twice per day.

Ras and company befriended a white and brass dragonborn named Reddick, who was being used as a slave for bar fights in a small tavern. They offered him a job as their stableboy, and he travelled with them for some time. Reddick left the group to join the library in Neverwinter, to try to achieve his dream of writing his autobiography.

Ras participated in one of Marlin’s trials, the trial of Fate, and gained a enchanted tattoo that allows him to go 6 seconds into the past once per day. During said trial he saw a vision of himself and his friends being attacked by a mighty gold dragon, one of his arms was missing, and his other hand had been crushed. The other vision was of Reddick being beaten and kidnapped by a dragonborn named Greyspine, who was apparently his former master.

While on an adventure to the Fae realm, Ras was gifted with a small box by the Fae Queen. Once they returned to their realm, Ras opened the box to find a young Fairy Dragon contained within. The creature was a female, less than five years of age, and Ras discovered her name was Mal.

Ras chose to help Sildar (the group’s elven friend. an NPC) on his Trial of Loss. He gained terrible bad luck, and so chose to bargain with the strange deity they encountered to lose something else. Ras lost his left horn, and the tip of his right.

During a trip through the forest, the group encountered a gigantic Coatl being roped up by a small group of Kobolds. The Coatl pleaded for help through telepathy, and the group killed all but one Kobold, which Ras knocked out. The Coatl seemed remorseful at their deaths, and asked we guide the last Kobold on the path to enlightenment. The rest of the group were very appose to it, but Ras took the Kobold on their journey and tried his best to make friends with him. The Kobold was named Rekeek, and although quite rude and presenting terrible manners, he was not all that bad. Ras made a deal with Rekeek for him to travel with the group, and help them find a Pegasus. After finding the Pegasus Rekeek went his separate ways.
