- Nephenee is an intelligent, headstrong warlock. Tactical and resourceful, she has a knack for thinking up plans on the fly. She consistently strives to improve herself and push the limits of her magical ability. Even so, some would call her cocky and a showoff when it comes to her magic.
Growing up in a merchant family, Neph's parents instilled cunning and a hunger for power in her at a young age. After making her pact, Nephenee has been willing to engage in more self-destructive activities to hold onto her powers. She isn't afraid to burn former companions to attain her goals, either. Her path is laden with burned bridges.
One of the few things that makes Nephenee uncomfortable is reminders of her past. After her expulsion, her parents deemed her a failure and disinherited her. Nephenee vowed to prove to herself that she isn't a failure, and now labors to become the greatest mage of her time. She puts on a flashy persona, but deep down she knows she's one step away from losing everything.
- Backstory
- All Nephenee's life, she wanted to work in the arcane, weaving magic to suit her whims. She enrolled in a college of magic under the best tutors she could afford, but one problem stood in her way: She had no aptitude for magic. At all. She couldn't form so much as a flicker of a flame from her hands.
For most people in her position, one would have chosen another interest, but Nephenee didn't take things lying down. One late night, she stole a tome from the university library with instructions to form a summoning circle. A deity reached out to her and offered her a deal. Nephenee would gain all the magical power she craved, in exchange for giving up her eyesight. Without a second thought or regret, Nephenee agreed to the bargain. Magic energy flowed through her as her world went dark.
When she awoke she was found by school officials, horrified by what she had done. Summons were forbidden, and she was swiftly expelled from the university. Nephenee didn't care. She finally had the power she craved. She took off on her own, crafting a seeing-eye statue of a crow.
Storm King's Thunder: After wandering with by herself for some time, she met up with a small group of adventurers and now travels with them across the Sword Coast. Her patron provides vague and often dangerous requests, which she does her best to fulfill. On a return trip to Neverwinter, Nephenee attempted to steal a family heirloom and was attacked by the Order of the Kraken, who have taken an interest in her powers.
While the party was exploring The Eye of the All Father, Nephenee learned the true identity of her patron: "Extension of the unknowable, Avatar for the incomprehensible. It acts for it because it has no will to act, it is Nothing. You serve the Void, an extension of its will made so that you can comprehend. You will one day consume it from the inside out, or it will do the same for you"

Nephenee is still unsure just what she summoned into the world. She doesn't know its name or what it looks like, only receiving cryptic messages of what it wants done.
